Kafka David Zane Mairowitz, Robert Crumb
Fantagraphics Books, 2007
Crumb meets Kafka...meets Crumb
+ Another great collaboration + A fascinating window into Kafka's brilliantly troubled mind.
Kafka was a complex man whose genius is inseparable from his huge neuroses. So is Robert Crumb. Put the two together, as this book does, and the upshot is a book in which the distinction between author Crumb and subject Kafka tends to dissolve. The book is just as much about the one as the ...

Devadatta (Buddha, Vol. 3) Osamu Tezuka
Vertical, 2005
Take-off
This 3rd book of the series got me hooked. The first two volumes are more like an introduction, and in this book the story finally takes off. The story continues in the same pace as the first two volumes, which makes it a pleasant read.
The story of Siddharta continues as he teams up with Dhepa ...

Buddha, Vol. 2: The Four Encounters Osamu Tezuka
Vertical, 2005
Very very enjoyable
More of the story of young Sidhartha struggling with his posh prince place in a strongly caste system, and his fear of death and suffering. An 'enlightened' Sidartha fights against the caste system, which is paramount to treason, and slowly learns his true place in all things.
