The Monster of Florence
Douglas Preston

Grand Central Publishing, 2008

Portrait of Evil

Very well written. The Monster is the Italian equivalent of Jack the Ripper and just reading some of the accounts makes one shudder. Lots of discussion of conspiracy theories. Still, at the end, like Jack, we don't learn the monster's identity.

Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4)
Stephenie Meyer

Little, Brown Young Readers, 2008

Breaking Dawn

+ Breaking Dawn (book 4 in Twilight Saga)

This book was amazing and I recieved it 2 days after it came out. I was very happy with it. Amazing storyline and great details. The characters really catch your interest and keep you hooked through all of Stephanie Meyer's Saga. This one was by far the best.

Chasing Harry Winston: A Novel
Lauren Weisberger

Simon & Schuster, 2008

Pleasantly Surprised

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. I didn't enjoy the author's second book at all, which I thought was just a clone of her first novel, the famous "Devil Wears Prada." I'm happy to report that Ms. Weisberger really branches out with her latest book, "Chasing Harry Winston." ...

Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1)
Stephenie Meyer

Little, Brown Young Readers, 2006

I wish there were more stars for this book.

+ Great Entertainment.
+ EXCELLENT

This book is absolutely amazing. It captivates you and takes you to a world where fantasy meets reality. The characters are complex. The passion between Bella and Edward is so absorbing that you can't put it down! It is definitely my favorite book (although New Moon is also my favorite). This book ...

The Pillars of the Earth
Ken Follett

NAL Trade, 2002

I really don't know why I enjoyed this so much...

+ Wonderful read
+ Review: Pillars of the Earth

Almost at 1,000 pages, this book sure is a brick. But what an amazing brick it is! The story captivated me for some reason...and apparently, Oprah likes it too.

The Garden of Last Days: A Novel
Andre Dubus III

W. W. Norton, 2008

Homage to Larry Brown

It seems a lot of reviewers were disappointed, expecting a work like Dubus' previous one House of Sand and Fog. This book is different. It is dedicated to the late great author Larry Brown, and, frankly, reads like a Larry Brown novel, particularly Fay. If you like novels about the gritty ...
