Love the One You're With Emily Giffin
St. Martin's Press, 2008
4.5 stars
+ light fun + Her best book...
I docked this book a half-star because I didn't like how they used a pseudonym for Bono (Drake is obviously supposed to be Bono). I feel like if you're going to use a real-life star as a model, might as well use the real person!
That said, it is a minor quibble in an otherwise highly ...

Crippled Dreams & Love and Madness David Rehak
CreateSpace, 2008
long-ago settings, timeless themes
These two novels in one now re-published are already separately reviewed a bunch of times, probably far more effectively than I ever could manage, but I just wanted to add one thing. I'm amazed by the economy of words, never is a word wasted on unnecessary prose. The plot moves the story for long ...

Sundays at Tiffany's James Patterson, Gabrielle Charbonnet
Little, Brown and Company, 2008
Fantastic book!
+ Bring your inner child - and you will delight in this book
I love this book! I think this is probably James Patterson's best book to date. I love the way he draws you in to the characters and makes you feel like a part of his book. Also the way he takes an abstract subject and makes you believe. What a fantastic author!

Wicked Pleasure (Bound Hearts) Lora Leigh
St. Martin's Griffin, 2008
Yes! Yes! Yes! YES!!!!
+ Very entertaining!
I'm not always in the mood for a graphic novel... but Lord bless a graphic novel that can put you in the mood!!
I have a general tendency to skip over sex scenes in romance-type novel due to their "same-old, same-old" kind of scene... you know, "throbbing member" and "delicate flower." Boring ...

Because it's an Odd series you already know you are hooked even before you opened the book. So for all of us Dean and Odd fans just sit back and read yourself into another great book. ...

Fearless Fourteen (Stephanie Plum, No. 14) Janet Evanovich
St. Martin's Press, 2008
LOVE PLUM-
+ Fearless Fourteen
This series is my absolute favorite "relax and read". Such great characters and always makes me laugh- perhaps after 14 there are just so many high expectations that fans get overly critical. Every person I recommend this just adores Stephanie Plum. Keep em coming Evanovich- but hey can you ...

Netherland: A Novel Joseph O'Neill
Pantheon, 2008
A document of our time
+ So beautifully written
When this book was published in the spring of 2008, it received wonderful reviews, most notably in May on the front page of the New York Times Sunday Book Review Magazine. The usually difficult and persnickety Michiko Kakutani also gave it high marks in another review in the Times' daily edition. ...
