New Soul
Yael Naïm

Tot Ou Tard, 2008

Relaxing

+ Shame on me for not reading product description

I don't care that I don't understand half the songs. I can listen to it all day at work. I can actually sing along with some of though I have no idea what I'm singing. There's a nice mixture of soothing sounds and up beats. I love the instraments that are used -- a large variety.

Best of the Best: Definitive Collection
The Hooters

Columbia Europe, 2003

Out of Body

The album Out of Body is often ignored by Hooters fans. At least this compilation has a couple songs from it. But yeah, buy the original albums instead of the compilations - because once you hear them, you'll want them all, and your mix will be a waste.

Boxer
The National

Beggars Banquet, 2007

Boxer

+ Enjoy
+ Good? Yes! Best? Not Nearly.

The National-Boxer ****1/2 Matt Berninger, Bryce Dessner, Aaron Dessner, Bryan and Scott Devendorf have been slowly perfecting their sound over their past few albums, and with Boxer, I truly feel The Nation have hit on what it is they were aiming to achieve. Complexity meets minimalistic vocals ...

Icky Thump
The White Stripes

Warner Bros / Wea, 2007

Now seven albums strong

+ candycane dreams of white stripes!

It's undisputed that the White Stripes are one of the best rock bands of all time. Although I might need some time to think about where to place them in my list of favorite bands, this album proves that they rank pretty high on the Richter scale. "Icky Thump" is an earthquake-shaker of an album, ...

Float
Flogging Molly

Side One Dummy, 2008

Flogging Molly makes me happy!

+ What a ride!
+ Fun to listen to

"I don't care what I lost, I just thank God I'm alive!" What a great ending to a great album by a great band. That line really personifies what this band is all about to me. Enjoy life. Celebrate it. At all costs. Another great album guys. Please don't stop. And if you're thinking about ...

Girls and Boys
Ingrid Michaelson

Cabin 24, 2007

melancholy, sprightly and melodiously quirky

+ Ingrid is now one on my favorites singers

Ingrid Mishaelson has been, as noted above, featured in Old Navy Commercials, and those emotionally drenched scenes on Grey's Anatomy and One Tree Hill. The New York based artist has a rather quirky feel to her music and on ocassions the festive lilt of the campfire chanteuse. Her songs are ...
