Other People's Love Letters: 150 Letters You Were Never Meant to See Bill Shapiro
Clarkson Potter, 2007
trust me, you'll/she'll/he'll love it!
+ Fun read
I really enjoy this book. There is something both sweet and scandalous about the idea of reading snippets of other peoples' love letters. Each time I pick it up I find something new that I hadn't noticed the last time I read it. The imagination whirls wondering about the writers and the recipients. ...

2012: The War for Souls Whitley Strieber
Tor Books, 2007
Great writing too bad some just don't get it!!
+ A terrific si fi read--Stephen King with a soul! + Cannibal, Cussing, Shape-Shifting Reptiles - a winner!
Strieber was writing great fiction when probably many, including myself, weren't even a gleam in our daddy's eye yet.
I love this genre and have read all his old novels. In 2012 he flexes his muscles as a writer. I think perhaps he's too subtle and sophisticated for these doltish one star ...

The Abduction Mass Market Mark Gimenez
Vanguard Press, 2008
Not to Miss
This was my first Gimenez book. It won't be my last. Very clever plot manipulation. Loved the coincidences that worked out the "plan." I didn't want to put the book down once I had begun. You don't want to miss this one.

Duma Key: A Novel Stephen King
Scribner, 2008
Truly mind blowing
+ Best of the recent Stephen King novels
I am a huge fan of Stephen King. Some of his stories truly scare me. A couple of months ago I picked up Duma Key. This book is so great. I'm an author myself and I learn so much from Stephen King every time I pick up one his books.
In Duma Key Edgar Freemantle encounters a terrible construction ...

Family Tree Barbara Delinsky
Anchor, 2008
Delinsky delivers again!
+ Family History Mystery + Great Story
I am a long-time fan of Barbara Delinsky. Her stories are fascinating and her characters are believable and deep. Delinsky consistently delivers a tale with twists and turns, with romance and mystery. In this story, a white couple welcomes the birth of their baby, only to experience a shock when ...

The Virgin of Small Plains: A Novel
Ballantine Books, 2006
Nancy at her best
+ What can I say? I liked it!
I've read all of Nancy Pickard's novels, and this is one of the most intriguing. The suspension of disbelief required is considerable, so the fact that she still carries off a real page-turner is all the more impressive.
