Choir of King's College Cambridge - Britten Choral Works [Great Artists of the Century] Benjamin Britten, David Willcocks, ...
EMI Classics, 2004
King's College Classic
+ Britten Brilliance
Way back in the dark ages, before CDs roamed the earth, I purchased the LP of this recording. It remains my favorite performance of Britten's work. The voices of the choir, accompanied by one harp, weave an achingly beautiful tapestry of sound. It is a wonderful way to introduce children and ...

Celebratory Music for All Seasons!
+ Glorious Gloria! + A very welcome reissue--but why was it ever out of print?
Holiday season and the stores are filled with carols and pop tunes that seem further removed from Christmas every year. At the same time all the choral ensembles around the country are scheduling the Messiah and festivals of carols and it is refreshing to turn to less well know works on CD for ...

Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition; Night on Bald Mountain Modest Mussorgsky, Leonard Bernstein, ...
Sony, 1990
Another great Bernstein
+ Nice production of classic sound + Satisfying version of 'Pictures..'; liked album on the whole
I love Bernstein. Both the Mussorgsky's Pictures at Exhibition and A nigth in the Bald Mountain are masterpieces, and so is Ravel's orchestration of the pictures. I think Bernstein's direction excellent, so beautiful as, for instance, that (famous) by Toscanini.
