Traffic Benicio Del Toro, Jacob Vargas
Universal Studios, 2002
The drug traffic as it really is and from all three perspectives
+ A Movie As Important As It Is Excellent
This movie is intense, complex and firmly grounded in reality. The topic is the drug traffic between the United States and Mexico and it follows three interconnected yet somewhat distinct plotlines.
One is set in suburban, affluent Ohio. Michael Douglas plays a judge who has just been nominated ...

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Chang Chen, Chow Yun-Fat
Sony Pictures, 2001
Very accessible with a broad appeal, deeply influential in bringing asian style to western films. . .. . .
+ The first of the new wave of martial arts flicks. + Exquisite fantasy
Now, I know a lot of people don't love this movie. But hear me out before you disagree.
I acknowledge that this film was made with a western audience in mind. That means that as a typical wuxia film it is watered-down by comparison. It was also apparent that they tried to do a lot with the script, ...

The of the Gun Ryan Phillippe, Benicio Del Toro
Lions Gate, 2001
Hard hitting, unusual thriller - great stuff!
+ Contemporary western with Benicio at his best
The man who wrote "The Usual Suspects" would be expected to deliver well, and he did. This is a terrific, tense and blazing film. The acting is strong and the script a harse, tense ride. This is a great movie & superb entertainment.

The Virgin Suicides Danny DeVito, Kirsten Dunst
Paramount, 2000
Haunting
+ Very Melancholy Feeling. . . + THIS MOVIE REQUIRES ONE TO HAVE A DEEP MIND! THIS MOVIE WAS GREAT!
This is one of my top 5 movies. It's not a feel-good movie, but rather leaves you feeling melancholy and haunted. But I can't help wanting to watch it again and again. Sofia Coppola did an excellent job directing and Kirsten Dunst is great as Lux Lisbon.
One of the best parts of the movie is ...
