Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer (20th Anniversary) Mary Demas, Michael Rooker
Mpi Home Video, 2005
The most disturbing examination of a mass murderer ever filmed.
+ Not Scary, But Very Disturbing + TOPS!
John Mac Naughton's cult low-budget film is beyond any fictional story about murder and sociopaths. Beyond any logic explanation about the behaviour or consequences of brutal, cruel and random violence. Beyond the self awareness of one-self in front of a mirror, beholding the remaining pieces of a ...

Vanilla Sky Johnny Galecki, Kurt Russell
Paramount, 2002
One of my favorites
+ Sci-Fi Twist + Some of the most beautiful ideas and scenes I know of in a film
Original, fun, with a sad unconventional ending. A definite love it or hate it movie. Makes you appreciate what you have rather than taking everything for granted as David Ames does. If you "don't get it" at first, watch it again. If you watched it once and hated it...don't bother.

Eye opening and artistic
+ What a trip! + Indie Greatness
This movie is very well done. The animation is great, I especially liked the way it matched the characters personality. It's cool to see so many different opinions and thoughts on life and existence. Awesome movie!

This movie in itself is not only one of the most original movies I have seen in a very long time but it is one of my favorite films period. Beautifully shot, great acting and a story line you may have to sit through a few viewings to get it all. Do yourself a favor and get this movie I suggest the ...

Blow Up Vanessa Redgrave, Sarah Miles
Warner Home Video, 2004
Stunning piece of film-making let down by some dated elements
+ Stylish Antonioni
There is little doubt that "Blow-Up" is a stunning piece of film-making. There is very little dialog in the film, and when people do talk to each-other there is mis-communication. No, Antonioni uses imagery and non-verbal sounds to convey meaning in this film. Combined with a strange, disconnected ...

Altered States William Hurt, Blair Brown
Warner Home Video, 2004
Tripping Down Memory Lane...
+ The Electric Mushroom Soup Test + Awesome Movie
I'm not a big Ken Russell fan. I've found his movies to be a mixed bag of nuts. However, ALTERED STATES is Russell's most coherent and, to me anyway, enjoyable film. It's a love story of sorts, wrapped in the trappings of sci-fi and hallucination. William Hurt is quite believable as Eddie Jessup, a ...

Man Bites Dog - Criterion Collection Rémy Belvaux, André Bonzel
Criterion, 2002
The most lighthearted portrayal of sadism I've ever seen
+ A comedy not to be taken lightly...
This was stunning in two directions. There's the activities taking place - mucho dark stuff - and the fact that a film crew is documenting it and even assisting in the action. Normally, I don't watch foreign films because the subtitles frustrate me. Glad I changed my mind this one time. I highly ...
