Why abridge this great novel?
Buyer beware-ok if you want an abridged copy ( I didn't) but I was in a rush and didn't notice!

Family Favourites (Phoenix Press) Alfred Duggan
Phoenix Press, 2007
What a pleasure this is back in print
I'm delighted that the books of Alfred Duggan are back in print after so many years and I'm particularly happy that Family Favourites is once again available. This was my first introduction to Duggan's wonderful, cynical style. I originally found this book in a used book store in Guadalajara, ...

No, it's not pretty and there are no characters who are all good or all bad....pretty much like real-life. The previous novels have received VERY mixed reviews and I suspect ...

The Gates of Rome (Emperor, Book 1) Conn Iggulden
Dell, 2004
Set your expectations, and you will enjoy this
Read this for fun, for the atmosphere of ancient Rome, but not strict historical accuracy. It's a great story, well-paced and suspenseful. Efficient use of phrase. The entire series is enjoyable.
