Best Mystery/Thrillers I've Read in 2008

 Best Mystery/Thril...

The Genius
Jesse Kellerman

Putnam Adult, 2008

I am not finished with this book yet, but had to write because...

+ The Genius...
+ Highly recommended for any lending library strong in mystery audios
+ More a leisurely mystery than a thriller

Dead Time
Stephen White

Dutton Adult, 2008

Dead Time by Stephen White

+ "Dead Time" is a suspensful thriller for the older crowd.
+ Dick Hill is a great reader.... however,

Good service by the seller, and the item is in mint condition. This is the latest of the "Dr. Alan Gregory" novels. Watching the other regular characters evolve is always interesting.

House Rules: A Joe DeMarco Thriller
Mike Lawson

Atlantic Monthly Press, 2008

Pogo is right that we met the enemy and they are us

+ Fast Paced Thriller
+ Lawson Rules - 4.5
+ Entertaining thriller
+ 4.5 Star Thriller that Delivers

The Cruelest Month (Three Pines Mysteries, No. 3)
Louise Penny

St. Martin's Minotaur, 2008

excellent Quebec police procedural

+ Just Shy of Excellent
+ EXCELLENT!
+ The Cruelest Month

Silent in the Sanctuary
Deanna Raybourn

Mira, 2008

It only gets better...waiting until March for the 3rd book.

+ Keeps you Glued Wondering What Is Next
+ Worth reading!
+ Enjoyable read
+ Angieville: SILENT IN THE SANCTUARY

Sharp Objects: A Novel
Gillian Flynn

Three Rivers Press, 2007

Wow -- what a debut!

+ Un-put-downable

This is an extremely well-written and forceful book, especially for a first novel. There's nothing remotely tentative about this story of Chicago reporter Camille Preaker's return to her little southeast Missouri hometown to do a story on the murder of two local young girls less than a year apart. ...

Prisoner of Birth
Jeffery Archer

Macmillan, 2008

A VERY SATISFYING READ

+ Prisoner of birth
+ Fantastic audio book
+ Excellent. The Jeffrey Archer we know is back

The Price: A Novel
Alexandra Sokoloff

St. Martin's Press, 2008

One of the best books I've read recently

+ No Price Too High
+ Pet Sematary for Humans

This book really kept me on the edge of my chair the whole time I was reading it, one of the very few I've read in recent years that could do this. Fabulous, absolutely fabulous, full of tension and questions and suspicion, and the most unique and surprising endings I've ever read.
