Most Gardenias are bush-like in growth. The Tree Gardenia (Gardenia thunbergia) is more tree like and grows about 4 feet tall. It has glossy-green leaves and waxy-white, very fragrant flowers. It is hardy in zones 9 & 10. In other areas it should be grown as a houseplant and moved outside during the summer.
