Burt Lancaster, Tony Curtis and Gina Lollobrigida star as a triangle of lovers in this powerful drama set against the magnificent background of a European circus.  Filmed on location in Paris, Trapeze has been acclaimed as one of the most spectacular and authentic circus movies ever made.

This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

It's a Widescreen copy.

For those a little leery of ordering this copy, rest assured it is in its original widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35. The quality is identical to the Warner Archive release of 'The Big Circus', colors fluctuate from vibrant to soft but is not enough to distract from the films power. It is definitely better than the showing on 'Turner Classic Movies' so if you are a fan of the film like I am, you will cherish this release

The best is the training scene

At first, Lancaster is a teacher and Curtis is a pupil. Then they become partners,
and finally competitors. They challenge a very difficult performance. They train
and train, and one day they decide to make a finishing stroke of the performance.
They are preparing for starting it in the air, and other artists are exercising
their own performance on the ground. The ballerinas are dancing. What music do you
think they are dancing to? It's the movement 3 of Brahms Symphony No.3. My favorite.
Lancaster and Curtis are getting ready to go. The air is tightened. All other artists are concentrating on their own play, but they begin to feel something is
going to happen. The tension runs through all of them. They are stopping their play
quietly. The ballerinas are stopping dancing and the music is fading away.
A silent world. They all look up expecting a miracle to happen. And, Lancaster and Curtis did it. The story begins from here. Gina Lollobrigida intervenes. Katy Jurado
supports. I am sure this is one of the best works of Carol Reed.

Great Memories Revisited

I first saw this movie at its release. It was one of the first movies I saw as a child. It was lovely to see that the spectacle of this circus classic plays well today. I didn't see the moral message encased in the film until now. I see several overlapping messages of selfishness versus generosity, love versus lust, and greed versus art. Plus, as an added bonus, we get a behind the scenes view of the circus.
