Each year, the Christmas concert presented by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square is seen by more than 85,000 people live and by millions more via television broadcast. It is a full scale production featuring world- class musicians, soloists, dancers, narrators, and music that leaves viewers in awe of the Choir's unmatched magnitude and musicality. Following the success of last year's CD Rejoice and Be Merry, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir presents Ring Christmas Bells, the next musical masterpiece in a series of highly acclaimed and commercially successful holiday albums. Featuring Brian Stokes Mitchell, dubbed by the New York Times as Broadway's last leading man and Edward Herrmann (Gilmore Girls; Nixon), Ring Christmas Bells is a holiday experience every family will want to have.

Stunned

I spent five wonderful years singing under Mack Wilberg when he conducted the BYU Men's Chorus--his gig prior to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I know what his fertile mind can produce, and his penchant for show. And even with all that experience with him, he never fails to amaze me with what he does year after year with the Tab Choir.

I didn't know who Brian Stokes Mitchell was, and so there was a little apprehension. (Don't ask me why. I don't know.) But all I can say is it stunned me. Mitchell's voice is one of the most supple and flexible voices I've ever heard. His has smooth pop star delivery on pieces like Crazy Christmas List/Christmas Song and Through Heaven's Eyes. Or giving each animal its own voice in The Friendly Beasts. And yet when he goes for the more serious pieces like his and Mack's arrangement of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, or the Choir's annual show ender, Angels From the Realms of Glory, you realize how deep, rich and vibrant his voice is. It's heady and exciting. It really knocked me flat.

Edward Hermann's telling of the story behind I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day is moving stuff. (But I've had a rough year, so that could be part of it.)

I have one quibble. While I love Mack's taste for pageantry, I really didn't like see the dancers come out in the final number. In that piece, I just want the music to speak for itself. The power and emotion of that one piece are enough in and of themselves. The dancers cluttered it. But that's a personal taste thing.

Love it!

I really enjoy this CD because I went to the orginal concert and it was fantastic. It's fun to have a copy to listen and remember the good times.

Heaven!

When I listen, I feel as if I've become privy to a little piece of what goes on in heaven.Abish - Daughter of God

Magnificent Program

Brian Stokes Mitchell and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir--a match truly made in heaven. The arrangements of these songs are truly beautiful and bring out the very best in the performers. Even though there are TONS of Christmas albums available, this quickly became one of our favorites.

Mormon Tabernacle Choir Ring Christmas Bells

The sound is beautiful & it was at a cost much below the retail price.
