Olympic gymnast
Nadia
Comaneci is profiled in this heart-warming family film. Nadia began training competitively at the age of six with the now world-famous coach Bela Karolyi and his wife Marta. At fourteen she became the first Olympic gymnast to score a perfect 10 and walked away with five gold medals two silver medals and one bronze at the 1976 Olympics. The petite gymnast from Romania was now an overnight media sensation inspiring a whole new generation of future Nadias. But fame came with a high price. As Nadia grew into a young woman she struggled with isolation weight gain that threatened her career and that fear of exceeding increasingly high standards.NADIA captures the hard work and determination of a young girl driven to success. The film stars Oscar nominee Carrie Snodgrass (Diary of A Mad Housewife) Talia Balsam (Without A Trace) two-time Emmy nominee Conchata Ferrell and Johann Carlo (Quiz Show).System Requirements:Run Time: 90 minsFormat: DVD

Excellent movie
It is a very good
movie
of
Nadia
, since there is not much available about her life, this one is a good option, my kids (6 & 8) liked a lot and feel enthusiastic again about her gymnastic class.
Good, but not DVD-quality video
I was dissappointed they didn't take the time to scrub the video before putting it on DVD. It is likely not much better than what you would find on a VHS tape, although the entire (uncut)
movie
is there -- and thats what I care most about.
Touching yet Hysterical : A Warped, Enjoyable Nadia
My brother and I recorded this off TV in the early '90s, and much of our childhood was peppered with bits of inspired dialog from this 'gem' of a
movie
. Granted, it isn't really a movie. In fact, it was initially aired as a multi-part miniseries. And time has not been kind to it.
Despite that, this remains the definitive
Nadia
film. Why? The performances, and the brisk, crisp direction. It has TV movie written all over it, and the second half of the film is horribly cast (the actress playing Nadia looks nothing like her, and doesn't know anything about gymnastics either. She barely manages to even pose right), but it is charming and refreshing in its' portrayal of the young Nadia and her best friend Theodora Unguriyanu.
The 'perfect 10' that Nadia scored at the Olympics is reduced to slo-mo editing here, and her performance at the Montreal Olympics looks stilted and way too dramatic. Also Bela Karolyi is portrayed as this sinister egotist. Whether or not this is
true
, I don't know - but it stuck out in this movie. However, there are many sweet and tender moments within this film that make it well worth a buy. I've watched it many times myself, though its been years that I last saw it - and would still highly recommend this lost treasure.

My wife was very happy with the
movie
as she watched it repeatedly when she was a youngster. She was pleased to now have it on dvd.
Interesante
El problema es que su realización es muy pobre, carece de menu, no trae bonus, ni subtítulos, ni otros idiomas, está hecho a la rápida pero la pelicula es entrañable.
