Building
Cars
lets you bring together endless car part combinations, for building your own amazing vehicles. Put together engines, gadgets, doors, wheels, lights and tons more! Just about everything you think can be used for making a car is in Gary's junk yard. It's up to you to recycle these wacky old parts into new cars in the workshop.
Creative Play with Room for Expansion
The concept here fills a great childhood need for creation. My grandson at seven spends hours
building
crazy contraptions and cool
cars
out of the junk with
Gary
Gadget
and Freddy Ferrick. I only wish they had a free style option where the kids could do as they do as they please because at times it gets a tad frustrating when they're constantly sent back because they need different tires to get through the mud or they run out of gas or their vehicle is too heavy for the bridge. After a time Travis had learned to quickly modify and repair the problems but Gary's repetitive statements, funny at first can become old after a while. It would be nice to have the option to turn them off.
It's way cool that they offer extra parts and an additional game on the website. Great value, hours of fun. So much fun that we would love to see a Gary Gadget Lego set!

Great thinking software for kids
My four year old son absolutely loves this game. It took him a little while to figure stuff out, and I've had to give him hits, Like when he couldn't get through the mud I said that he must need some type of off road tires. He figured out which tires to put on his car. He also loves putting together different wacky
cars
and seeing what kind of score he can achieve at the car show. There's still lots that he hasn't figured out yet but I think over time he'll figure it out. I do think he is a little young for this game, but there is still lots that he can do... and he has lots of fun doing what he can.

Gary Gadget Game
This game is perfect for my son as he works on
cars
with his grandfather at his auto body shop. My son is 8 and it appears that he'll get bored with the game fairly quickly as it's not very challenging for an 8 year old. I'd say that ages 5-8 would work best for this game.
Wonderful Game
This game definately helps kids work on their critical thinking skills! My son just turned 6 and I agree with another poster...this is perfect for ages 5-8!! Any younger and it would be too frustrating and any older and they'd get bored. It is a slower-paced game that requires thinking and problem solving! You create
cars
...you help out the people in your town..but you have to think. For example...to get to a destination that you need to go (like a party you've been invited to) you have to cross a muddy patch...if you don't have the correct tires, you can't go across. You have to find the right tires in the junk yard, but if they aren't there then you might have to go do some other favors for people and they will give you spare parts in return...and maybe someone will give you the right tires!! Lots of fun! Not your normal game!

the kids love it
I bought this for my nephew (age 5)- he and his sister (age 8) both love it. It's a bit different than many of the flashy, fast paced games available now (my sister described it as folksy) but it makes the kids think and is entertaining. It has worked pretty well on their
Mac
, although there has been a couple times when the screen has gone blue- can't see the picture but can hear what's going on. On those occasions my sister had to restart the computer.
