Lanky icon Randolph Scott saddles up for three Westerns making their home video debut. He buckles up a brace of six-shooter "hand cannons" in Colt .45 (Side A) to chase a desperado who uses similar weapons to terrorize locals. No one messes with Texas - not in Fort Worth (Side B). Gunsmoke and glory combine as newspaperman Scott backs up his fiery editorials with a blaze of bullets when lawlessness threatens. Finally, Scott is a Tall Man Riding (Side B) - and brawling and shooting - as he rights an injustice involving a gambler's attempted land grab. The well-worn Stetson Scott wears is his "lucky" hat, and Tall Man Riding marked the 27th time Scott wore it in a movie. We tip our hats to one of the genre's all-time greats!

excellent Scott triple feature

Fort Worth and Tall Man Riding are two of the best of the Crooked Businessman subgenre of Westerns. In particular, Tall Man Riding is very
well plotted and most enjoyable.
Colt 45 is what I call a Saturday afternoon Western. A lot of disbelief has to be suspended to get into it. Native Americans speak with excellent use of nouns and verbs but no articles, although at least they are not the villains. For the heavy, we have none other than Zachary Scott and his performance is wonderfully over the top. Overacting is not the word. He is totally psychotic and possibly even sets new standards in Western villainy.

All three films have great picture quality and terrific Warner Brothers Ranch/Chatsworth location photography.

There's little that can be said about Randolph Scott that hasn't already been said. Because he did so many of these so-called B Westerns he may have been underrated by snobbier critics. I think he was a really great actor.

Highly recommended.

Colt .45/Tall Man Riding/Fort Worth

If you like the Randolph Scott/Bud Boetticher western series (I wonder if the 6(?) remaining collaborations, besides "7 Men From Now", will ever be released?), you will like these well written western dvds. Made from outstanding source materials, the dvd picture quality is excellent. No, Boetticher did not direct any of these three films but they do have the adult attitude of those Scott westerns. The price is also impossible to beat for three entertaining films. If you are 50-something and enjoyed westerns as a kid, I think you will be happy with this purchase

Colt .45/Tall Man Riding/Fort Worth

I like old westerns! To get three in one was exciting and well worth it!

Randolph Scott

This dvd is worth what I paid for it. I bought it for the colt .45 movie alone, I liked the title! The colt.45 movie was okay, but was not at all accurate. In the movie, Randolph Scott is a gun salesman, and has two of his prized colts stolen, but they are actually colt dragoons, an earlier cap-n-ball style percussion revolver. What is usually meant by a "colt.45" is an 1873 colt peacemaker in .45 colt caliber. I really liked "fort worth", it was the best of the three movies. For fans of early westerns, and Randolph Scott, this movie pack is a good deal.
