Does the job
After reading the reviews for the other
spot
cleaners out there, I went with the
Dirt
Devil
because of the removable dirty water tank. While I have had a few minor troubles with my Spot
Scrubber
, I rated it a 4 because it seemed better than the similar products on the market.
First and foremost, I find that it gets the job done. We used it to clean our kitchen chairs (oh, what a disaster they were!) and it did a great job, especially considering how long some of the spots had been there (we bought the chairs in 2002 and cleaned them in '07). It's also been used to pick up spit-up carrots from my mom's white rug, and dirty footprints from my daughter's brand-new rug. In each case, the Spot Scrubber has successfully removed the stains.
A few cons to consider:
1. It is loud. This seems to be common among spot cleaners. It's a little louder than a vacuum, so it's not the kind of thing you whip out when the baby's asleep.
2. The built-in sprayer has a wide and somewhat unpredictable stream. In other reviews for other products, I've seen people suggest using a spray bottle instead of the built-in sprayer. This might be the way to go here as well. However, the sprayer does give a steady stream of cleaner (does not need to be pumped repeatedly), so I'd say that's an advantage.
3. My clean-water tank leaks. I should (and will) contact Dirt Devil about getting a replacement. We'll see how that goes. Right now it's not a big enough inconvenience to worry about, but it's worth mentioning.
Other than this, here are the pros (at least, versus other cleaners as I understand them from their reviews):
1. Most important: We have had no trouble cleaning the dirty-water tank, as others have complained with other brands/models. It pops right out and cleans easily.
2. As mentioned above, the sprayer does not need to be pumped; it provides a nicely continuous stream of cleaning solution.
3. The size, weight, length of power cord, hose, etc all seem a good for the jobs we've used it for.
4. The price seems appropriate.
This scrubber works well at cleaning up spots. It's pretty easy to use, it has nice removable tanks for clean and dirty water, and it is a good size. If I had to make the choice over again, I'd buy this versus any of the other products I've seen on Amazon.

Works great with our senior dog
This product works great with our senior dog, who sadly is losing control over her bodily functions. We use this every few days to vacuum up "stuff" from the carpeted areas where she hangs out these days. With this product, it's really easy and quick to clean it up and the results are pretty good. The tanks are good sized and we rarely need to clean them out. The seals are decent, not perfect, but pretty good.
We also had a similar Bissell product in the past and this one works better because it doesn't leak like the other product did at times.
