because I wanted something a little different and nothing fancy for my "old world" decor. It looks great in my new kitchen and does the job well. I did have to play with the settings until I found what worked best for my English muffins, but for a reasonably priced, nice looking appliance, it fills the bill.
Heritage Toaster
Reminds me of my younger days at my grandmothers house. Yes, it works well too.

Great Replica of a Vintage Toaster
I love it. Looks good in my kitchen and reminds me of my childhood. I like the way the wires grab hold of the bread, no matter how thick or thin it is, and center it in the slot so it's toasted evenly on both sides. Over the years, I bought several white
toaster
s that looked really bad after a short period of use, didn't toast evenly and then dropped dead -- why? -- a toaster is supposed to last forever (well, practically). I even had one that developed scorch marks on the outside of the slots.
I only have one problem with the

toaster -- I enjoy Sara Lee Buttermilk bread which is wider than the length of the toaster's slots. I still gave it 5 stars because I came to the conclusion that the bread we had back then wasn't extra wide. So, if I want an exact replica of the original, that's one draw-back I can live with.

Bought as a gift
I bought this for my Mom for a Birthday gift, she loved it and said it works great.
Looks Good, works average
The product looks good, that's a given. The silver doesn't show a lot of finger prints. It works okay. I leave it on the same setting and toast a bagel every single morning, and every single morning my bagel is toasted between "light" and very toasted. But it is never burnt or not toasted, so overall I am happy with the
toaster
. The biggest problem is rounded top design, which I love the look of, is not practical for a bagel. The highest point of the toaster is right in the middle where you would naturally reach to pull a rounded bagel out, and I just can't get at it. It means I almost always have to find a plastic utensil to help me get it out. Works great for toast though. Overall, I like the product and I won't be getting rid of mine, but I think would shop around a little more before buying this one again.
