The cozy villages of Midsomer County reveal their most sinister secrets in these contemporary British television mysteries. Inspired by the novels of Caroline Graham, modern master of the English village mystery, the series stars John Nettles (Bergerac) as the unflappable Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby with Daniel Casey (The Wingless Bird) as his eager young assistant. Guest stars include Hugh Bonneville, Gemma Jones, Wendy Craig, and Paul Venables. Includes the following mysteries:
Tainted Fruit ? A wealthy young landlady in Midsomer Malham fears for her life after she callously ignores the plight of an elderly tenant.
Ring Out Your Dead ? Just before a big competition, someone starts killing members of the church bell-ringing team in Midsomer Wellow.
Murder on St. Malley?s Day ? After a murder at the Devington School in Midsomer Parva, members of an elite student club close ranks.
Market for Murder ? In lovely Midsomer Market, a ladies reading group starts losing members to murder.
A Worm in the Bud ? A woman is found dead in Setwale Wood, an apparent suicide, except that her suicide note is emailed after her body has already been sighted.

Midsommer Murders

I am older & I thank my daughter for introducing the Midsommer Murders (first three seasons) to me. I have
watched them over & over....there is not very many good TV programs in the U.S., so these BBC things are
very good. As I can I will get the other seasons.

Very enjoyable series, beautifully filmed.

Season four has the usual good-natured, somewhat goofy cast of characters from Midsomer and lots of familiar faces from British TV as guest stars. We love the gorgeously filmed country side and cottages. The mild-mannered ineptitude of Inspector Barnaby and the cluelessness of the insensitive Sargent Troy result in some witty dialogue. The plots can be a little convoluted and certainly justify repeated viewings--so buying these collections is better than renting, for sure.

Midsomer Murders, Set Four

I am never disappointed by this series. Intend to buy more. If you like British murder mysteries, you will love this series.

Wonderful

I have never been disappointed yet watching Midsomer Murders - many times over and over

Buyers beware!

I had to return sets 4-6 of the Midsomer Murders in the US edition on discovering that they are not the same as the UK sets 4-6, which is what I wanted. The US sets are arranged differently and each one contain fewer episodes. Of course, the actual content is as much fun as ever!
