Yes, indeed, TomTom has no customer service

I am yet another customer who has discovered that TomTom seems to have no customer service.

NOTE. I don't know this particular GPS so my "5 star" rating is not meant to mean anything.

tomtom GO 300 -- a great little number!

I purchased the tomtom GO 300 yesterday despite the 15% restocking fee at Circuit City (25% at Best Buy!) and tried it in my 350Z which I purchased without paying the $2,000 extra for the built-in GPS. Despite having been told at at Best Buy that it would not work unless it was fully exposed to the windshield, I happily discovered that it works perfectly in the in-dash area where the Nissan GPS would have resided. I even got a nine (9) satellite reading! This baby is great right out of the box. I love the fact it holds a 5-hour battery charge so I don't have to have the wire hanging out of the dash all the time. It is a little light on points of interest but that is my only criticism. I highly recommend this device.

problems

I bought the tomtom910 and am having 2 significant problems:
1) The device frequently tries to direct me down small roads/logging trails that are closed to vehicular traffic. Recently I followed the tomtom directions and stopped because the device tried to send me over a mountain logging trail that a goat would have trouble with. I had to turn around and go back to the highway around the mountain- another 50 minutes of unnecessary driving.
2)The TomTom looses electrical contact while in the windshield mount everytime you go over a small bump and causes the screen to go blank for about 2 minutes while the machine re-boots.
