Great Game
As a fan of German-style board games, I really like ones that allow for complex strategies. At the same time, one does not want to spend all the time memorizing arcane rules. At first, while reading the directions for the game, both my husband and I worried that, indeed, the rules would be too complicated to allow for just a fun game of "

" to be played. (Actually, we did not even understand the rules the first time we tried to play it.) But don't be discouraged by the directions, which could have been written better. In fact, the rules are not that hard once you play a practice round and the game is both thought-provoking (for strategy players) and fun (i.e. does not get too bogged down in complicated moves). I also think it has a fair amount of educational value, teaching children about the values of diversification, supply and demand, etc.

Better than buying gas...
Fun game involving resource management, strategy, bartering, and a pinch of luck. This game is similar to the Ticket to Ride or Thurn and Taxis series in the respect that it requires good route management and resource budgeting. My whole family and gaming group loves the game.
The power of scarcity.
Amusingly, I have not had too many chances to play this game. I dropped it off with some friends who have played it many times, though I have been mostly unable to make it.
Playing (and watching) gives a new appreciation for all of the times you have thought about buying something to keep for later. In this game, you learn to not only prepare for your current needs, but to keep prepared for future changes in the game. It is difficult, though a lot of fun. (And the game progresses towards a definitive end, which is very nice.)

Too complicated to be fun
The game looked really cool online, so my husband and I bought it because it had so many great reviews. The game is kind of like ticket to ride meets monopoly, and it takes about two hours to play. I'm sure it'll be fun once we learn the rules more thorougly, but right now the game is so complicated, it's almost a chore. The game has all the fun of ticket to ride -- buying

plants, connecting them, powering them, etc., with the long drawn-outedness of Monopoly. If you're patient, it has the potential to be a great game.
