Follow naturalist Bill Mason on his journey by canoe into the Ontario wilderness. The filmmaker and artist begins on Lake Superior, then explores winding ans sometimes tortuous river waters to the meadowlands of the river's source. Along the way, Mason paints scenes that capture his attention and muses about his love of the canoe, his artwork and his own sense of the land. Features breathtaking visuals and exciting whitewater footage, with a musical score by one of Canada's most renowned musicians, Bruce Cockburn.

Great Film for outdoors enthusiasts

If you love the out of doors, the wilderness, canoeing, Canada, evironmentalism, camping, or just beautiful scenery, this is a great film. Bill Mason was best known as a canoeist but his professional reputation was as a documentary film maker and artist. Waterwalker blends all his passions, including just a touch of spirituality, into a well spent 90 minutes in front of the televison. He offers guidance with out preaching, insight without blame, and take us along on a canoe trip that covers many canadian rivers and Lake Superior itself. If you are a paddler wanting a paddling movie, this is it. His bio, Fire in the Bones, is a great follow-up if you like this, plus his many other well recognized films: Cry of the Wild, Paddle-to-the-Sea, Path of the Paddle (whitewater, flaterwater, solo and tandem) and more.
