The planks are reusable as long as they are not too charred or cracked, in which case they can be crumbled into the grill for adding a smoky flavor. To extend the life of the planks, they can be heated and used just for serving. Each plank is made in Canada of untreated, slightly rough Western Red Cedar and measures 15 by 7 by 3/8 inch, long enough to hold shish kabobs and large fillets of fish. To reuse, scrub gently with warm soapy water and rinse clean. The planks are gift-wrapped with attractive color photographs, and recipes are included. --Ann Bieri
