The best video editing software ever (for PC)

I can not compare to Final Cut Pro because I never used it, but I have tried at least 10 other high-priced and "professional" video editors for PC. Vegas has been the best ever since I discovered it (version 3.0 from Sonic Foundry). I can not say there is a remarkable improvement over version 4, but this is better.

Either way - Vegas 5 is the most easy-to use, intuitive video editor I have seen. With customizable layout, infinite video/audio tracks, simple cross-fading system and layering - this is any professional's dream! Try the demo before you buy - this way you will not complain to amazon later! Perhaps this program is not for everyone, but my computer illiterate dad (whose english is not perfect either) learned it in a few hours of playing with it. My brother (not computer savvy) also loves it over any other product I showed him. My friend - used maybe as many video editors as me is now a faithfull follower of this program. This program doesn't have siple wizards some people want - for that you may try "cheap" video programs that can't do anything you want unless you want to do something specific they are designed for.

Everything you want to do with video (even undulating speed stretching back/forth) - can be done very quickly. With an enormous ammount of effects and the ability to add them on top of each other, change their parameters throughout the duration of the clips fluidly or quicky (as you prefer): VEGAS VIDEO IS THE BEST PROFESSIONAL (and easiest to use) VIDEO EDITING PROGRAM IN THE WORLD!

Perfect for prosumers

To get to the point, here's a listing of the great points of Vegas.

- Access to most functions are right in front of you.
- Fast. Without the aid of hardware, Vegas is much faster then Premiere at creating previews and giving feedback.
- Tons of options straight out of the box. For the money, you get a lot with Vegas.
- Extremely easy and accurate video capturing.
- Great at helping you keep organized.
- In my opinion, the best option for prosumers wanting the most straigt out of the box.

At work I use whatever's the current version of Premiere. At home I use whatever's the current version of Vegas. Let's just say I'm much more satisfied at home, and I've used both programs for 4 years. At work I'm constantly getting frustrated with Premiere and it's poor layout, buried features and clumsy controls. It seems to take a long time to get anything done.

I will grant one thing. Choosing a package and what is considered "intuitive" is a sort of philosophical choice. What seems easy to understand to me can be complicated and frastrating to someone else and viceversa. But I would argue that with ample training in Vegas most people would see many of my arguements for Vegas. Out of the box, there's no arguement that Vegas offers more than most of it's competitors.

Is Vegas the best out there? No, but you have to spend a lot more to get better. Downloading the trial version and spending some time on it is the best thing you can do.
