Delicious slow release protein
I've been ordering the ON brand 100%
Casein
Protein
in the 4 lb. tubs from Amazon (All Star Health) for about a year now and I have nothing but positive things to say. The shakes are perfect to take right before bed due to their sustained protein release (that's what Casein is all about) and the chocolate flavor tastes great. (I haven't tried the other flavors yet-but I just ordered the banana cream.) As for comments from previous reviewers about difficulty mixing this protein-I can honestly say I haven't had a problem. Whether using water or milk, this protein mixes up just fine in a simple shaker cup. Of course I usually have to spoon the last bit of protein out of the cup when I'm finished as it tends to be slightly on the thick side. If you need a slow release protein and enjoy the taste of chocolate pudding-buying this protein should be a no-brainer. I'm also impressed with how fast I receive my shipments. On average, shipments consistently arrive a week or less after placing an order. Great product, great delivery-I highly recommend.

Best Casein Protein Around, Totally Avoid Banana
Casein
is meant to be a slow-release
protein
that you drink before bed in order to stop your body from braking down muscle mass. Also, it's incredibly filling, so you won't go to bed feeling hungry. I've tried other Casein proteins and none of them taste as good as Ultimate Nutrition's.
I works just fine mixing it with water as long as you use a blender, but with a shaker it comes out rather lumpy.
One thing, Totally AVOID the Banana flavor. It tastes awful when mixed in water, and it has a terrible after-taste. I can usually drink any flavor of protein drink, but this one is a real challenge. Vanilla is surprisingly good mixed simply in a blender with water.

how to use this product...
... complaints about problems mixing this product are because they are being posted by newbs. Heres how you do it...you do not have to use warm water as some newbs say to blend a smooth shake, in fact use the coldest water you want, even add ice to a shaker cup, the ice may even help the mixing process, then MOST IMPORTANT add the powder on top of the water and shake. Perfect everytime. Only newbs put the powder in a shaker then add water and complain about chunks. Chocolate and Vanilla are tasty with just water, the banana is garbage unless you mix with milk.

I'm Pretty Picky
What people need to realize here is that this is
casein
which I think MUST be mixed with a blender unless you enjoy clumps. This is by far the most pleasant casein product I've used to date. Someone said this has an awful after taste, how untrue! I can't tell you how many times I've just thrown the stuff away. Not this product! I add this to skim milk then use a small hand blender to mix. I then add crushed ice and mix again. This easily replaces my desire for a late night treat and I no longer wake up starving.
Works, but vanilla not the best
This is a good product for slow-acting
protein
needs (i.e. taken before bedtime to prevent muscle breakdown). But try one of the other flavors. Vanilla is passable, but not the best I've had.
Also, it is not spoon-mixable. You really need a shaker to blend it well enough (unlike Optimum's whey protein product).
