Spoofy-goofy comedy, otherworldly special effects, spectacular space creatures, bedraggled 'bots, and biceps-ripplnig swashbuckling highlight this cult fave. In the future, as the galaxy's water supply starts to run out, a band of pirates searches for a new water source.

Great Movie

Ice Pirates is a movie full of campy goodness. It's a sci movie made in the eighties whose premise is that water is rare commodity and more valuable than gold. It is transported frozen hence ice pirates. The movie never takes itself to seriously and is fun to watch as long as your not expecting an oscar worthy story, effects, acting, etc...

At times it can be a little dated, especially when referencing racial stereotypes. Some people might recognize an early performance by football great John Matuzak and one of "Hellboy' star Ron Perlmans first appearances. Anyway, if you enjoy toilet humor and slap stick you should enjoy this movie.

A cast of characters. Everything from space herpes to a robot pimp...if you want to laugh at the sometimes very silly space and future humor, then this movie is for you.

This one is in the same vein as Spaceballs, totally 80's humor with a lot of Mel Brooksesque jokes throughout!

What can I tell you, if you're looking for Hamlet then why did you type "Ice Pirates" into amazon? If how ever your looking for a non-stop train of low-brow weapons-grade hyphon-rich fun that will lower your IQ then you've hit a yatzee!
