Liberal
s? loyalty to the United States is off-limits as a subject of political debate. Why is the relative patriotism of the two parties the only issue that is out of bounds for rational discussion??
In a stunning follow-up to her number one bestseller Slander, leading conservative pundit Ann Coulter contends that liberals have been wrong on every foreign policy issue,
from
the fight against Communism at home and abroad, the Nixon and the Clinton presidencies, and the struggle with the Soviet empire right up to today?s
war
on
terrorism
. ?Liberals have a preternatural gift for always striking a position on the side of
treason
,? says Coulter. ?Everyone says liberals love America, too. No, they don?t.? From Truman to Kennedy to Carter to Clinton, America has contained, appeased, and retreated, often sacrificing America?s best interests and security. With the fate of the world in the balance, liberals should leave the defense of the nation to conservatives.
Reexamining the sixty-year history of the
Cold
War and beyond?including the career of Senator Joseph McCarthy, the Whittaker Chambers?Alger Hiss affair, Ronald Reagan?s challenge to Mikhail Gorbachev to ?tear down this wall,? the Gulf War, and our present war on terrorism?Coulter reveals how liberals have been horribly wrong in all their political analyses and policy prescriptions. McCarthy, exonerated by the Venona Papers if not before, was basically right about Soviet agents working for the U.S. government. Hiss turned out to be a high-ranking Soviet spy (who consulted Roosevelt at Yalta). Reagan, ridiculed throughout his presidency, ended up winning the Cold War. And George W. Bush, also an object of ridicule, has performed exceptionally in responding to America?s newest threats at home and abroad.
Coulter, who in Slander exposed a liberal bias in today?s media, also examines how history, especially in the latter half of the twentieth century, has been written by liberals and, therefore, distorted by their perspective. Far from being irrelevant today, her clearheaded and piercing view of what we?ve been through informs us perfectly for challenges today and in the future.
With Slander, Ann Coulter became the most recognized and talked-about conservative intellectual of the year. Treason, in many ways an even more controversial and prescient book, will ignite impassioned political debate at one of the most crucial moments in our history.

Solid
After having seen Miss Coulter being diabolised so much and so consistently, I thought I'd check her out. So I watched videos on YouTube. It was interesting enough, but I thought one should read her stuff to get a better idea. That's how I got to this book.
Given what everyone says about her, I half suspected something really bad: one-liners about
liberal
s and such. But that's not what you'll find in "
Treason
". It must be said here that I am no expert on McCarthyism, but what Coulter puts for
war
d sounds very solid. A lot of which I had never heard before.
This is a very researched book, filled with notes and references - it is far more serious than I had been led to believe. Also, I didn't find so much "hate" in the book as I found taunts. This is something Coulter points out to as well: "liberals" only have a sense of humor when it comes to mocking conservatives, but no longer when it's applied to them. All you have to do to see that is consider the treatments that Bush and Hillary Clinton receive. You can say anything you want about Bush, no one will be shocked, but if Hillary's cleavage alone is commented on...
I truly appreciated Coulter's solid common sense throughout the book, and how effectively she highlighted the pattern among "liberals". I thought she did a very good job, and I must say here that I am no rightwinger, I'm not even American, but I believe if you listen to what she has to say with an open mind, you may learn a thing or two.
Again, I insist on that I am no history expert, and I cannot evaluate her work in the area. But "Treason" certainly was better than what I had expected, given the general treatment Coulter receives.
Calling her a "skinny blonde idiot" will not convince me of anyone's idiocy except that of the person who believes such a comment is relevant. That's not how you convince anyone with a brain. Ad hominem attacks have no credit, except if you preach to the choir.
"Treason" is a good read. It is well written, Coulter is very witty and doesn't hide her true opinions behind political correctness (and I always appreciate that, regardless of whether I agree or not). The book covers the second half of the 20th century: the
Cold
War, McCarthyism, Ronald Reagan and the end of the Soviet empire, the War on Terror.
I tried to be as objective as possible in this review. And I actually read the book, so that's the review you get. I'm not reviewing Ann Coulter, just her book.

A must read
Ann Coulter's well researched book brings light to issues that the mainstream press misrepresent. Her writing is intelligent, yet humorous.
