a superior blend

i can't agree more with the other reviews. Wai Lana provides very simple and easy to follow instructions for each posture at a calm pace that anyone can get the gist of. her grace makes the yogic postures (asanas) look easy when in reality it can be quite demanding, although never too strenuous... unless you're out of shape ;) it's an entirely rejuvinating workout whose effects will certainly show.

this video from her beginner's series does exactly as the title states; i can thoroughly feel its toning effects on all levels. physically it leaves me feeling alive and well & ever so flexible! mentally it leaves me sharp and ready to go, emotionally it is very clearing & calming, and spiritually it leaves me balanced and peaceful. Wai Lana does a superior job presenting and teaching Yoga; i very highly recommend her :)

can't wait to try her more advanced videos! (:

Another great workout from Wai Lana

Wai Lana offers the very best of the Yoga DVD's. She's absolutely my favorite!

This workout has a faster pace than the Hello fitness series, but is still true to her Eastern roots. By the end you'll be groaning in pain (in a good way) while feeling utterly relaxed.

This is a great addition to the Hello Fitness series. If you are a follower of all things yoga, you will love this!

A Different Sort of Yoga Practice - But I Think I Like It!

There's nothing more I can add to the reviews aside from sharing my own experience and perspective.

What I Liked:

--- A unique approach to yoga! Wai Lana holds the postures for a while rather than racing / flowing from one posture to another. This form of yoga allowed me to focus on my breath and actually experience my body. I would characterize this type of workout more as sustained yogic stretching (with graceful transitioning between poses)rather than a flowing yoga practice. I enjoyed not having to look at the TV screen every 20 seconds to figure out which yogic pose I had to jump into.

--- No sun salutations. Thank God.

-- Wai Lana. Despite her costumes and unusual voice, she is a very likeable instructor. She gives sufficient instruction without being chatty. Her demeanor is gentle and happy.

-- The workout flew by. I looked at the TV in surprise when it ended, because I could have continued on! This workout has very little dread factor for me, unlike 95 percent of my other yoga workouts. (I prefer live classes.) Because of this is so enjoyable, I can see myself reaching for this workout more than the other yoga DVDs I own.

--- The yoga workout appeared to be deceptively easy. Yes, the poses were simple, and this is certainly not power yoga, but I still felt mildly challenged at a couple points. Best of all, this workout relieved a lot of the muscle tension I carried in my body for two days after a rigorous weight-training session. It surprised me that such an easygoing yoga workout could be so effective.

-- The production values, natural scenery and quiet music enhanced this DVD.

What I didn't Like (but can live with, happily):

-- Wai Lana's costumes.
-- The sweet but (for me) ineffective meditation at the end of the workout. I'll skip it next time.
-- Sometimes the film maker's "editing room flourishes" were unintentionally comical and amateurish (i.e., the floating mantra at the end).

Recommended!

Wai Lana Yoga DVD

I enjoy the Toning Workout very much. It's visually stimulating and soothing. The workout is appropriate for me.

Great "change" from the mainstream!

This is an excellent change from the mainstream yoga dvd... Hmmm... maybe I should even say wardrobe change! She changes her outfits throughout the entire dvd... kind cool! Interesting to look at, however, that is not as important at the practice and instruction which is great! It's so nice to see someone do something different for a change! I'd also check out Tamara's Yoga Fusion for something different as well. Great for all levels.TAMARA'S YOGA FUSION
