Godzilla
is back! This time, Japan has a new weapon:
Megaguirus
! Now a 3-way battle begins between Godzilla, Megaguirus and the humans beings! Will Godzilla win? Will humanity survive?
Godzilla vs. Megaguirus
It is an enjoyable movie for the whole family. The creature was imaginative.
Godzilla
is awesome and is the hero.
An excellent addition to the Godzilla series
I love
Godzilla
films, but when I saw that this one was made as recently as 2000 I wondered if it would still have the classic Godzilla feel, which it most definitely does. It has all the makings of a great monster movie: bad special effects, unrealistic human technology, corny subplots, an impressive rival for Godzilla. It's great.

My kid loves this movie
My kid is 5 and has been into
Godzilla
since he was 3. This is one of his favorite Godzilla movies.
Did Sony correct the brightness level?
I rented this movie a couple of years ago and witnessed the infamous "visible strings" sequence that several reviewers have mentioned. Flash forward two years: My six-year-old son has been getting into
Godzilla
lately, so we bought this one from Amazon last week. I was waiting to see if he would notice the strings holding up the Megaguiras suit and... what do you know? I couldn't see the strings. It's the same TV sitting in the same spot with the same settings. Sony must have done a brightness correction. Either that or my eyes are going.
As most people say, the effects are hit-or-miss, sometimes sinking to SCI-FI Channel cheesiness, but the Godzilla suit is great and Megaguiras is a cool villain. I get sick of Mecha-this and Robo-that in all the modern G-movies, so it is enjoyable to watch a plain old monster battle.
The human characters are marginally more interesting than the typical, bland "G-squad monster defense league" automatons that have been showing up since the mid-90s, though that that isn't saying much. If Toho ever makes another G-movie... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no more plots featuring quasi-military, anti-Godzilla teams and their special weapons designed to fight Godzilla that are piloted/operated by emotionless twenty-somethings in jumpsuits. It's old.
I digress. Godzilla Vs. Megaguiras is briskly edited and doesn't feel like 106 minutes long. I rate it as the second best Millenium series G-film after GMK, Giant Monsters All Out Attack and slightly better than the bizarre Godzilla: Final Wars.
