Works for a while...

As others have mentioned, this switch works great for a while. About 8 months of constant use in a home/media environment including computers, tv receivers, ps3, voip then the entire switch went out. No ports would work but the cooling fan was running. Customer service was great and they replaced it since it comes with a lifetime warranty. Well, several months later while I was out of town my wife called on the cell phone and said the home phones weren't working (voip) and she couldn't get her email. I had her power cycle the cable modem to no avail. Came home and check into it, none of the link lights were working on the switch. Well turns out the last four ports on the switch work and nothing else. They are sending me a replacement but I don't want to have to continue replacing this thing. I guess I'll stick it out for now because of the replacement cost for a different brand switch. I can't say I have been pleased with this switch. Stay away if you want long-term reliability. I have been using the sr2016 since march of 2007.

ARGhhh - I meant 1 star - really I meant no stars!

Sudden failure of 12 of the 16 ports created a nightmare. It could have been worse - we had a spare - but this had only run for 3 months. So now we feel the need to swap out every one of these we have at the data centers and customer locations. What is so complicated about building quality switches. Where on earth have they been manufacturing these - and from what parts? This is not reasonable.

A follow up:
Okay so we requested and followed the procedure for an RMA.
The first problem was that there was not a way to get an rma for the 16 port unit - we called - they said to select the option for the 24 port.

Then for a month Linysys lost our unit - said they were still awaiting return of product.

It took many many phone calls to convince them that the tracking number was real and they had indeed received the unit.

This morning I get 2 emails 1 canceled the original RMA, the second issued another one - so I called and they acted like it was an evil thing we did sending in a RMA for the wrong product...

Arrrrgh... I think I will keep adding to this review.
