This 1988 animated feature from Don Bluth (An American Tail) focuses on an orphaned young dinosaur, Littlefoot, who has to make his way to the paradise of the Great Valley in order to survive a plague. Along the way, he meets up with some other dinos from different species, and they all bond and travel together. On the way, they have plenty of adventures. Even with elements of suspense, this is a pretty relaxed movie that isn't in a particular hurry to roll out its story. Kids will like the originality of the concept, and the themes of friendship and cooperation are well woven into the fabric of the entertainment, plus the music is great. Bluth's artwork looks good, though--as always--he never seems to quite catch up with the quality of the Disney machine. --Tom Keogh

Rememberence From My Childhood

I remember watching this movie in the theaters and had to buy it. It's very short from what I remember, but still CUTE. I will definately show it to my children.

Classic worth having

Great movie. In the Bambi mold--Little Foot's momma's demise just isn't necessary and makes most kids scared and cry. Except for this Disney cliche, the movie is very nice. This Anniversary Edition is in FULL SCREEN! Can't understand why and can't find WIDESCREEN. Even purchased the complete 1-9 movie package and those too are FULL SCREEN not WIDESCREEN. So, for the mass of us who have a TV build since 2002, black lines cut off the sides. It looks like viewing an old fashion TV, not a movie. Also, the movie quality is grainy. Disney princess classics look terrific on DVD. This movie looks like a 1930s cartoon in many scenes because it does not appear to be digitally mastered. The bonus features are also poor. Missing good games for child enthusiasts. Problems aside, if you have kids, you need this movie...and probably the entire series.

The Land Before All The Sequels

This is one of the better films made for kids. I watched it a ton when I was younger, and can now admit that I was positively terrified of Sharptooth.

Unfortunately, they couldn't stop making sequels. Now, our prehistoric heroes have been reduced to a bunch of computer generated dinos, prancing around singing annoyingly about diversity.

See the original. It's much better.

Come on man

This movie is stupurbolis! Yes I make up my own word for it. I'm glad it doesn't have any songs in it. If it did, I probably would have thrown the VHS out long ago. As for the different tones in the picture, did they restore it before they transfered it? And Nymph 2 was a perfectly good movie and excellent sequel. The songs were entertaining. My schpeil's done.
