is it alive?
My husband bought the
reef
fish
for our hot tub and it was fun. So, I purchased it for a friend who loves to fish and just got a hot tub. Instead, he put the fish in his koi pond as an experiment to see if the live fish would follow it. We thought the reef fish would just swim across the pond and run into the wall, but it is well balanced and swim in a nice circles around the pond. At first, the reef fish swam a little too fast for the koi, but they were interested...especially after an hour or so had passed and the batteries started to run low, causing the reef fish pace to slow.

a huge hit and favorite with all children at the pool
All children love this---saying is a huge hit is an understatement
WONDERFUL
I have answered 5 or 6 reviews for this toy, I ordered it for 3 different famalies and I am sure I have revied this order more than once. It is a great company and a beautiful, fun toy. Now, enough already! Gwynn
Ain't You Somethin'
This little toy is adored by my two girls 6&8. It is a pleasure to see something so well designed. It swims gracefully, sticks to the top of the pool with just the soft fin sticking out, noses around all obstacles and under those foam pool noodles. It only gets stuck occasionally in a fold in the liner, my fault. It does make a small bit of a whirr-ing sound that is not intrusive, and disappears when in the water of our 12foot pool. I wonder if we should take it with us when we go

Get his one instead of the small reef fish
On both toys (the small
fish
and this one) you will have to water-proof the battery compartment well if you want to enjoy any life out of this product.
What this one excels over the small fish is that this one has a on/off button instead of metal protusions for water-induced-closed-circuit connection. You put the battery in, turn it on and you can immediately see it works. The other one you will have to place it in the water and pray that it will start.
I thought this would be a better product if:
1) much better water-tight battery compartment
2) Fish was less buoyant, so you could sink it and it would take much longer to come to the surface (silly me wanting this toy to look more like a real fish)
3) random strokes to generate unpredictable movements. I don't know if the are all like mine, but my fish always swims slighted to the left. I thought it would be a lot better if it the pattern was erratic, making it change directions suddenly (there I go again with this strange desire of wanting this toy to perform more like a real fish)
