A real lifesaver in a family of three cats

I have used the Littermaid for 3+ years. We needed to finally purchase another one so we went with the Elite model which was a mistake. The area in our bedroom is too dark during the day so the nighttime sensor is always sensing it is dark thus not running the machine. Then when there was a light or we hit the run button, the machine failed to function as effective as this less expensive and older model. This LM500 is a real work horse for us with 3-4 cats, one of which is very particular about a clean box or she will go elsewhere. We actually got rid of the newer model after having to fight with it for 3 weeks and purchased this model again. This rake takes the items to the middle of the disposal box, not just to the leading edge like the elite model does. It has been a real help for us but you must use a good quality litter like Fresh Step etc or else it won't work. Don't know if you have the correct litter? Open it and pour some water in. Wait 10 minutes(the time your Littermaid would wait) and then see if it is clumped together. I would recommend this time and again! So would Molly, Yum Yum, and Sean
