The Best at Blocking Noise.

I discovered foam ear plugs when I lived in New York City, where they were commonly sold in subway stations. Silicone, plastic, and wax earplugs had proven insufficient defense against loud neighbors and street noise. These foam earplugs were far more effective and comfortable than other types. I think I literally would not have survived years living in places even louder than New York if not for these earplugs. I couldn't have slept without them.

The ear plugs have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 29 decibels, which is higher than any other ear plugs on the market. They block out a lot of noise, but they are more effective at blocking higher frequency sound than low-frequency. This means that you won't be able to hear the telephone if you sleep with ear plugs in, but you might hear the neighbor's lawn mower. Their effectiveness at blocking out noise from machinery really depends upon the pitch, but foam ear plugs will always lower the volume somewhat. They're pretty good at blocking background chatter, television, or music.

I've used both Flents "Quiet! Please" and E*A*R brands, which are identical apart from color. Flents are off-white. E*A*R plugs are yellow. They are easy to use. You simply roll the ear plug between your fingers to squish it, then insert it in your ear canal. It expands to fit your ear snugly. Each ear plug can be used a few times before it has to be trashed. If you need noise relief in order to sleep or concentrate, Flents "Quiet! Please" ear plugs will be a great help.

The best you can buy.

My husband snores, so I use these ear plugs to sleep every night. I have tried many kinds, and these are the best I have found. They do not block out the snoring entirely (I have never found a kind that does that), but they 'take the edge off' so that I can fall asleep.

Another think I like about them is this: Since they are foam, they let your ears 'breathe' a little more than the wax or silicone ones. Sometimes, wearing earplugs to bed at night can lead to sinus infections and other nasty stuff, but I have never had a problem with this foam kind.

Flents Foam Ear Plugs

I have used these ear plugs for years. They are the best!!! My husband snores and these take care of the problem as far as I'm concerned! I hate the wax or silicon plugs, these are by far the most comfortable and effective that I've tried.

Good, but can get uncomfortable

I bought these to spare my sanity while I sleep during the day. I work nights, and there's two little kids in my house, so you can imagine how often I get woken up. The foam plugs work really well, and I can't hear anything once they're in. They don't last more than a week per pair though. The foam stops bouncing back after a couple of days (you squeeze and roll them up, then push them into your ear. The foam expands and fills up the canal to block sound), and you'll need to whip out a new pair. The new ones can get slightly uncomfortable for the first use, but after that they are ok. I recommend buying several boxes if you plan on using them regularly. Like I said, one pair will last about 7 uses.

Hurt by morning, but great at blocking sound

I sleep much better with these in, since they really block out the noise. But in the morning, my ear canals feel inflamed from the pressure of the expanded foam.
