One for the Dune readers!

If you are a Dune reader, you'll love this miniseries.

I don't think the movie is near as good as the book, and if you are a reader also, I'm sure you'll agree. For me the movie seemed to trod along and missed the excitement of the book. This movie seemed more like a documentary that seemed to accurately tell the story, but made it kind of dull.

That said, I will still watch it many times and I think any Dune reader would want to see it. I wish they made a movie of the complete line of dune books, even if they were all seeminly dull like this one.

Starts from nowhere and goes to nowhere but is fun to watch

This made for TV series looks like the standard made for TV items on the SciFi channel. However most of the actors are well known (as Alice Krige ... Lady Jessica Atreides) and the others should and maybe will be well known. The actors do not overshadow the characters. The sets and costumes are better than the average made for TV sets and the dialog is not that droll rehashed soap opera over the top tripe. The story follows the books ( 2nd and 3rd books in the original series) close enough for real dune people to enjoy.

The story starts off where the movies leave off and we get to see the politics and treachery along with the nobility of the nest couple of generations. In the end we are left with the question "What is the Golden Path?"

Awesome mini-series

If you like the movie version of Dune, and the Dune mini-series that premiered on the Sci-Fi channel, you'll will love this mini-series. This is a sequel of the Sci-Fi mini-series. It has a couple of the original actors recast in the roles they played before, which allows you to connect with the characters easily. The mini-series, is a combo of the two novels, "Children of Dune" and "Dune Messiah". My only real complaint is, I think they should have only done one book per mini-series. But that's my own personal preference. Other than that, you'll love the special effects, similiar to Star Wars series.
