From the supplier: The media's coverage of the senatorial campaign between New York Senator Alfonse D'Amato and state Attorney General Robert Abrams was unbiased to a fault. Both candidates accused each other of misconduct while in office. However, the evidence against D'Amato was real and voluminous, while the accusations against Abrams were primarily insinuation on the part of D'Amato. Press reporters dutifully maintained neutrality but may have deprived the public of vital contextual information that could have influenced the outcome of the closely contested election. More critical reporting is needed.
