Nature provides this remarkable plant with "traps" to lure and capture it's food. The traps are covered inside by tiny hairs and a sticky sweet smelling substance attractive to insects. When an insect touches the trigger hair, the trap is activated and closes around it's victim. After digestion of it's meal (whick takes several days), the trap will open again for a new catch. PLANTING AND CARE: Keep moist at all times, rainwater or distilled water are preferred. Plants should not be fertilized (so therefore should be separated from your other plants). The insects it catches provide natural nourishment. Select a sunny window for your Venus Flytrap. In replanting only use sphagnum! Peat moss will do in a pinch. Put a plastic saucer underneath the plant to hold water and keep it's humidity proper but do not stand in a dish of water.

Do Your Homework!!

I bought one of these plants at first. It came in the mail. I didn't take the time to research care for them. Watered it, with tap water, and the next day it died! So, I did my homework (free info on internet). REplant with Sputnum peat moss only (misspelled). and ONLY use distilled water. I advise to plant in an aquarium with flourscent light and "feed" it flys. Why? because these plants produce a smell that attracts bugs! Anyway, very educational.. and fun! I ended up ordering 2 more to fill my aquarium. (once you know something about them) It was much cheaper than buying the kits to grow one (they don't work and it takes YEARS to produce plants).. Venus Flytrap Care

Care.. This is a Bog plant.. it loves humidity and soaking in water.
Tap water can be used but let it sit in a container in the sun.. that will
dissipate the Chlorine.
Replant in ONLY sphagnum Peatmoss..
Transition to sunny location Gradually.. moving it from indoors to outdoors to fast is guaranteed to burn your plant.
Feeding it bugs with a tweezer will excellerate its growth.
NEVER LET THE SPHAGNUM DRY OUT !!!

Nice Plant

The plant came good with a small box and penuts. The plant was green and it had 2 traps(closed) a few days later it opened and i fed it flys. The plant is constantly changing. The plant's soil wasn't bone dry, it was actually wet. They did good :^)

didn't think that these would do too well at first

i ordered 2 of these and was really disappointed at first. i thought that they weren't going to live, however, after about a week, started to do just fine & are eating bugs and everything. it is very important to research care for these plants before growing them.
