An Excellent Intimate History of Washington

This miniseries came out when I was in 2nd grade. Our teacher had a poster up for it and encouraged us to watch every installment, which I did, and loved it. It really needs to be on DVD. It sucks that someone is trying to scalp us $180 for used VHS tape of this, and I won't pay that, but hope CBS sees fit to put it on DVD soon.

I agree this series has to be on DVD for it is far too long and expensive to be put on three videocasettes. I also remember watching this and loved it as well. I love period and history movies and I would most definitely buy this for my collection. I don't know who makes the decisions as to why this movie is NOT on DVD, but I wish they would make up their minds and convert this to DVD.

The Best Screen Portrayal of George Washington's life...

I watched this TV series when it was first aired in the UK back in the mid 1980s. Although my memory of it is far from complete I remember thinking at the time how good it was. It impressed me so much that years later when I took an interest in the history of the founding of the United States of America I tried to find this film. I have, alas, had no luck in finding it as it - for some absolutely wrong reason - is not in DVD or (in VHS format) in the English PAL system. I would dearly love to see it again - even if I have to pay the hundreds of dollars the rare VHS copies are going for (but in the wrong format it is useless to me). I would thoroughly recommened this to every American, every schoolboy and girl studying this part of history, and to anyone interested in a good, wholesome and no doubt more accurate depiction of Washington's life than can be found in any other screen version I have ever seen. I seem to remember reading years ago that the guy who did the research for this tv series was not particularly enchanted with Washington - after the research, however, he was very impressed with this Founding Father and I think that is shown in the video! Now, when is it going to be put out on general release in DVD format, all regions?

What could be better to watch over the 4th of July than this miniseries? I echo others sentiments and want to ask whoever is in control of the rights to please put this on dvd. I can't believe it is not yet available.
