Amateur butcher and enthusiastic hockey fan Jason Vorhees is back in business, and business is good. Can a plucky young boy stop the madness before Camp Crystal Lake's population report takes yet another machete-aided dip? The stalk-and-slash formula was pretty narcoleptic by this point, but this otherwise humdrum entry is distinguished by some unusual casting choices (Crispin Glover as a stud in training? Corey Feldman as a genius?) and the splattery return of makeup master Tom Savini. The fact that this installment was titled The Final Chapter may seem to contradict the existence of the numerous sequels that followed, but it's not as if logic was ever this series' strong point to begin with. --Andrew Wright

the best of the series.
f13 the final chapter is a great film. the best of the series thanks to direction by joseph zito who directed the very gory slasher flick the prowler and some good gore effects by tom savini who also worked on the prowler. this 4th(but definately not final)film is great for many reasons. jason looks good and is at his absolute most brutal, the film moves along at a fast pace and is never boring and the most important aspect, the kills, are very good. the kill scenes in this one are among the best and bloodiest in the entire series. a mans neck is sliced with a hacksaw and then twisted around, a fat chick has a knife shoved through her throat, a woman has a machete driven through her body from under a raft, a guy has a clever hacked into his face, another man has his head crushed while taking a shower, and who could forget jasons death scene? there are some other pretty good deaths like a spear gun to the nuts and a man being stabbed in the back of the head through a projection screen. these kills may sound nice and gory(and they do satisfie)but the most graphic parts of each kill are removed and the kills are very short. this version isnt uncut(none of the f13 films are uncut, paramount just doesnt seem to give a crap about the series fans who want to see the gore, they should consider that dvd sales for uncut prints would be very high)so you dont get to fully appreciate tom savinis effects that from what you do see are very gruesome. my personal favorite kill is the hacksaw head twist at the begining of the film but as i said its censored. if these kills where shown in there full, originally filmed versions this film would be one of the goriest films ever made. this is still a very good slasher and the censorship isnt nearly as heavy as on part 8(which after watching the deleted gore footage for that film i almost cried at what could have been). a great slasher thats one of the best and maybe the best

One of the Best 'Chapters' in the Series....
I love how it takes place soon after Part 3 ended! I love the way Jason looks in this one. I love Jason's killing techniques. Tommy Jarvis, a horror fan (like me) and his sister must kill Jason Voorhees before he kills them. Rob is trying to find Jason, because he killed his sister in the 2nd one. Also this has the 'horny kids staying at an abandoned house and Jason happens to come by and kill them' plot, which is kind of overdone in the series! Overall, this is a really good chapter to add to the series, and I'm glad it's NOT the final chapter!!!
When His Body Dies, Jason's Spirit is Freed to Live Forever
The release of "Silent Night, Deadly Night" nearly ended Jason's career as a serial killer. After hordes of angry moms protested this movie, numerous companies, including Paramount, took a closer look at the slasher flicks they were releasing. Paramount decided to end the "

" series with "Friday the 13th The Final Chapter." We all know that America was already addicted to Jason Voorhees and would not allow him to rest in peace.
Once again, an oversexed, hormonally challenged group of teenagers decide to vacation in the woods, not knowing that Jason Voorhees's body has disappeared from the nearby morgue along with two hospital employees. (Doesn't anyone read the papers anymore?) In "The Final Chapter," we meet one of the series most interesting characters, Tommy Jarvis, who will appear in two more sequels. Tommy, like myself, is obsessed with horror movie paraphernalia, including masks, which he makes with his own hands. We also meet his cute sister, Trish, and his adorable mom. The viewers grow to care about them as though they are a part of our own families.
Another interesting character is the handsome, young man, Rob Dyer, who is pretending to hunt bear. Actually, he is hunting Jason. Rob wishes to avenge his sister's death at the hands of the notorious serial killer. During the entire series, this is the only time I can remember when someone is seeking revenge for a relative murdered by Jason.
"The Final Chapter" has the highest body count of the first four features. Thirteen to be exact. The body count will increase with each sequel. Unfortunately, the plots become inversely proportional to the body counts. In other words, the plot suffers as the body count grows.
At the end of "The Final Chapter," Jason's physical body may die, but his evil spirit is freed to live on. By the sixth movie, Jason, like Freddy Krueger, becomes more of a supernatural type serial killer that can never truly be killed.
In actuality, "Friday the 13th The Final Chapter" is only the beginning of Jason's gruesome reign of terror. I recommend adding this feature to your collection of serial killer and slasher flicks.

Masked Madman Seeks Single Teens For Quiet Interlude...
First, let me say that I absolutely love
FRIDAY
THE
13TH
PARTS 1 and 2. I consider them to be horror classics with actual motives for the mega-deaths on display. I hated the pointless part 3 (in 3D no less), so I expected THE FINAL CHAPTER (4) to be a catastrophe. Well, I was wrong. FT13TH:TFC, while not my favorite, is far superior to that 3D nonsense. This one has a group of semi-interesting characters / victims involved. My faves were Crispin Glover (River's Edge, Bartleby, Willard) as the awkward Jim, Corey Feldman (Stand By Me, The Lost Boys) as the horror-obsessed kid, and those bicycling hottie twins! My goodness, those gals made me proud to be an american! Plot? Jason rises from the morgue, heads for the deep woods, slaughters everyone in his path, and ruins everyone's vacation! Tom Savini returns to provide the wet-work for this installment. Many horrific deaths ensue. This movie has the usual amount of insane violence, nooodity, and a bit of a sense of humor. BONUS: Watch for Crispin Glover's siezure-like dance routine! It's a marvel of modern cinema!...
