Undoubtedly the first movie in history to have played in theaters with three different endings (depending on which theater you attended), Clue is a silly whodunit based on the familiar board game featuring Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, and all the other usual suspects. A broadly comic cast play the sundry suspects gathered in a mansion to solve a murder, knowing that one of their numbers is the culprit. Michael McKean, Eileen Brennan, and Tim Curry are the best of the bunch, and the film is as lightweight an experience as a round of the game itself. Directed by Jonathan Lynn (My Cousin Vinny). The video release contains all three endings. --Tom Keogh

Clue, oldie, gut goodie

This is one of my favorite comedies, and I don't like comedies. Most comedies contain mostly physical comedy, but I like verbal humor. The sight gags are necessary, but aren't stupid.

One of the funniest movies ever made

The basic plot of "Clue" is exactly the same as that of the board game of the same name. A group of guests are gathered at an old mansion, one of the guests dies and the remaining guests must solve the murder. That is, who killed Mr Boddy, with what weapon and in which room?

Although the film is written as a mystery (and as a mystery story, it's not a bad one), this is a mystery written and directed by Jonathan Lynn (who also wrote "Yes, Minister" and "Yes, Prime Minister"), so that gives you an idea of what you're getting yourself in for. "Clue" is a very funny movie, starring some very funny people, including Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn and Tim Curry, and it never fails to amaze me that this film is not better known. Nevertheless, every time I meet someone who has seen this film, they usually have the same opinion of it as me.

When "Clue" was released in cinemas, back in 1985, different copies of this film were released with different endings, so the ending that you saw would vary depending on which cinema you went to. On home video (where I first saw this film), all three of these endings were included (yes, that's right, the video had three endings - trust me, it works), and in this DVD version, the viewer is given the choice of either seeing the home video "trilogy" ending or watching the film with a randomly selected ending, as in the cinema.

I saw this film for the first time when I was 10, and then, because I liked it so much, watched it again the following day (something which I have only done about two or three times in my entire life). Over the years, I have seen this film a couple of dozen times, and I can pretty much recite the entire script verbatim, and yet I still find myself watching it again and again. If you haven't seen this film already, you really must. Forget what the AFI say, THIS is what should have made the best American comedies of all time list.

So underrated

I love this movie! Saw it a million times at the theater, wore it out on VHS, and now I am in bliss owning it on DVD. The comedy is in the details for me-- watching what they are doing in the background, watching the characters react to each other, so much fun to watch!

I highly recommend you see this. If you wrote it off all those decades ago, give it another chance. You might spot something you missed the first time.

"I Didn't Do It!"

This fun-filled movie is great to watch with family and friends. It's definitely the best movie ,in my opinion, made in that year. You can enjoy three different endings of this movie, which makes it even better. If you like crazy comedy and mysterious murders, this is the movie for you!!!

Could've been better.

Clue is based on the popular board game and I like this movie, it has funny moments but overall Clue is a disappointment. The cast is incredible, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, and Madeline Kahn but the thing I really can't stand are the three different endings. the first ending was the best and then they had to throw the other two, what was the point? The can only be one killer in the game of Clue. This film is a mixed bag, decide for yourself.
