Where is the DVD?

I love this movie and the only thing I could wish for now is for it to come out on DVD. Anyone have a clue when that might happen?

Susan Hayward's BACK STREET, a gift to the romantics

Susan Hayward was in love in real life at this filming and she wanted to tell everybody. At this time in her career she had her pick of the available roles and took this heartbreaker BACK STREET (1960) to give us a share of her true romance. And the public devoured it. It is always in the lists of great Hollywood love stories. She said people don't want to see trash on the screen. They want to see luxury and the studio gave to the beautiful film all it had, lavish sets, costumes and beautiful supernatural color and those lovely words of love spoken between the screen lovers preserved for eternity. SO COPORATE, PUT THIS ON DVD SO OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL KNOW WHAT REAL LOVE IS ALL ABOUT.

"Back Street" Romantic Drama: Long Overdue For DVD!!!!

Ambitious but thwarted, Rae Smith (Susan Hayward) meets handsome Marine Paul Saxon (John Gavin), as he passes through Lincoln, Nebraska, on his way home from World War II. Paul Saxon is heir to his family's prosperous department store chains. There's a definite spark between them but circumstances intervene and he leaves town without her. Later she learns he's married. Determined to make it as a fashion designer, Rae moves to New York and becomes a great success. One day she happens to meet Paul again and again there's that spark but he's still married so, as a form of escape, Rae moves to Rome to set up shop. Once again she meets Paul and finally they begin an actual affair since Paul's shrewish, drunken wife, Liz (Vera Miles), won't give him a divorce. Time passes, the affair continues whenever time and place permit, but then, Paul's young son finds out about Rae and Rae's back-street world begins to crumble.

1961's "Back Street" is one of several classic soap opera style movies that is seriously overdue for a DVD release! With the recent release of Lana Turner's "Portrait in Black" and "Madame X," I was sure that Susan Hayward's "Back Street" would not be too far behind! Also missing from the DVD store shelves are "The Stolen Hours," "Where Love Has Gone," "By Love Possessed," "The Many Faces of Love," and "Magnificent Obsession." These are just a few of the classic dramas that came to mind, don't get me started on the missing classic comedies!! "The Reluctant Debutante," "The Mating Game," "Don't Make Waves!" And still so many classic horror, sci-fi, and western films still not on DVD!!

Fans of "Back Street" and especially Susan Hayward, should check out (or simply add these to your DVD library!!) "I'll Cry Tomorrow," "With A Song In My Heart," "I Want To Live!" and "Valley of the Dolls." Susan Hayward, Lana Turner, Debbie Reynolds, Natalie Wood.....Hollywood, where are these ladies "boxed set" DVD movies, I ask you!!??

product was good

Although the product itself was in excellent condition,
I was extremely disappointed in the timeliness of the shipment.
I ordered it on May 5th. I didnt pay extra for faster shipment, but I did say that I needed it for Mother's day on the 11th. I understand that you cant guarantee delivery date but I was assured it would be mailed on Wed, May 7th. I didn't even get it the whole next week after Mothers day.
It wasnt delivered until the 29th. I could have walked across the country in that time.

A film you will see again and again

BACK STREET is one of those films one wants to see over and over. It is good melodrama and Susan Hayward is, as usual, superb in it. As other viewers, I keep waiting for it to appear beatifully restored in DVD format. When will this dream come true???
