wonderful engaging story

A beautiful lovely story of a southern preacher in the backwoods of Georgia with his newly acquired city wife, Susan Hayward. An engaging story about the hard times of life and how the characters of people were forged through adversity. Its a shame that Hollywood is incapable of anything decent nowdays. This film is a good example of the good that hollywood could do by influencing people for decency instead of appealing to their base instincts. William Lundigan is superb as the preacher. Fine supporting cast. Beautiful photography.

Heartwarming, Good Story

Great movie based on a true story about a circuit rider's wife that lived in Elberton, Georgia. Great acting. Great storyline. Great photography. Beautiful scenery. Directing was excellent. Stars fit perfectly into storyline. Actors are just like real Georgians. If only we had more directors like that, or more authors like Corra Harris. Excellent production.

Such a heart-warming story.

I absolutely adore Susan Hayward, and she looked beautiful in this film. But then, Susan looked beautiful in every film she made.

This story is a simple one... a country preacher marries a "city girl" and brings her to live with him in the hills of Georgia. A number of events occur over the next three years as people in the community become ill with an epidemic, and the preachers wife questions God and why some people die and others do not. It is the classic question of life... why does it appear as though there is injustice in the world, and why does God allow so much suffering? The movie deals aptly with those questions.

Prior to watching this film, I was not familiar with William Lundigan. I think he did a great job. Wow, and what a handsome man he was!

The scenery in this movie was breathtakingly beautiful!

Anyway, if you like classic stories that deal with subjects like God and family, then you will enjoy this movie.

I'd Climb the Highest Mountain

This great classic. I really enjoyed it, it's a 5 stars for me.
Great acting, pure, simple, funny and sad, everything you need for a great movie.

Heartwarming

This is a wonderful old movie. Shows the power of faith, hope, determination and love. Also very nice scenery around the north Georgia mountains (my favorite place!). This movie would probably not hold the attention of young children. But for anyone who likes the "warm fuzzies", watch this one.
