Strong Sequel

I bought this book based on my enjoyment of "Strays". This is the second in Vincent's Pride series. Unlike so many other second books, this is a strong sequel that doesn't feel like the author is just rushing to get you to the next book.

The werecat world of Faythe seems good. She's got a boyfriend. She's working for her father. She is fitting into the Pride easily until the first body. Someone is killing strays and it is not Faythe and the other Pride enforcers. When dead human strippers are added to the puzzle, Faythe quickly puts together the answer. And she doesn't like it.

The answer threatens Faythe in so many ways. Her relationship with her lover, her father and her Pride could be shattered. She could even lose her life if the Pride council gets wind of this. The father-daughter struggle that was healing is blown apart again and Faythe has to come to some very hard decisions.

This book made me lose sleep. I could not put it down.

Faythe Sanders is known for having a quick-temper and stubborn characteristics. She is constantly making hasty decisions, even if it puts her or someone else in jeopardy. Faythe is a tabby were-cat and due to the lack of female were-cats, is considered rare and valuable to her species. After surviving a traumatic episode, due to being kidnapped and almost sold on the Brazilian market to the highest bidder, she has returned home to her Pride in Central Texas.

Faythe is committed to serving a 2 and a half year term as an Enforcer to her father, the Alpha of the Pride. Partnered with her current boyfriend and long term lover, Marc, their job is to patrol and capture strays that enter their territory. They were on assignment to apprehend a stray were-cat and escort him to the free territory when they received information leading to a series of murders involving only stray were toms. During the investigations of the murders they noticed several strippers had gone missing in the area that the toms were last seen visiting. In the midst of this, Faythe started receiving strange phone calls from her human ex-boyfriend that she dated briefly while she was away at college.

Faythe is striving to prove to her parents and Pride members, that she can defend herself without them sheltering her. Unfortunately, her decisions often lead to mistakes, mistakes that put her friends and family's lives in danger. When the past comes back to haunt her, Faythe has to learn to put her egotistical ways aside and amend her errors for the sake of her Pride, the person she loves and her own life.

"Rogue" will capture the reader and pull them in. I loved the way Mrs. Vincent has progressed with this book. The characters are so vividly wrote that the reader feels caught up in all thier emotions. The plot flowed smoothly together and will keep the reader captivated till the end of the book. This is the 2nd book in the Were Cat series by Rachel Vincent. The first book is titled "Stray". If you like to read about shape shifters and you like paranormal genre books, then I would absolutely recommend this series.

Is It Possible?

I read this one even faster than I read "Stray" if that's even possible! I just couldn't put it down, much to my girlfriend's dismay! Once again, I was swept into Faythe's world and I was not disappointed. I felt like this was a strong follow-up to Vincent's first novel "Stray." This book takes the reader even further into the life of a Pride member and left me anxiously awaiting the sequel! I would definitely recommend this series. The only problem is waiting for the next book! Can you speed it up Rachel? LOL! Just joking!

4.5 stars - With Faythe it just gets better!

With a great story and a heroine who is really growing into her own, Rogue raises Vincent's werecat series up to a new level. While Rogue skirts the edge of romance with Faythe's on again off again relationship with her love interest Marc, it is more of an urban fantasy than a paranormal romance. The story here revolves around the Pride's hunt for a rogue foreign werecat who's killing stray (bitten) and Pride (born) were-toms in Pride territory. In her new role as Pride enforcer Faythe is trying to prove herself worthy of eventually taking over leadership of the Pride from her alpha Dad, But Faythe trails trouble in her wake and her past indiscretions and minor missteps turn out to have major reprecussions. It becomes quickly apparent that Faythe may hold quite a few pieces of the puzzle needed to find the killer.

I liked the first book Stray but this one is even better. Faythe is beginning to mature a bit, so that even though she is still a bit on the self-centered side, she's not spending her time whinning and trying to get her way. She's finally beginning to see the cost that the Pride has had to pay for the independence that she was allowed. I also really liked that Vincent makes great use of the cast that she built in the last book. I love Faythe's alpha dad, her "Donna Reed" mom who bakes a mean brownie but can kick butt and take names with the best of them, and the rest of the testosterone ridden brothers (Michael, Ethan and Ryan) and Pride mates (Jace, Vincent and Parker). Also Vincent did an excellent job of setting up for her next book, can't wait to see how everything plays out for Faythe, Marc and the others when the story continues with "Pride".

Not Bad

I read Stray thinking it was werewolves and was surprised when i got werecats. It was a great book and very well written. The follow up is also good although the author slightly disappointed me in her focus on the romance over the plot, but you cant have it all. Look forward to the next one
