2012: The War for Souls

This book was a gripping, terrifying and wholly absorbing read for me! I have read several of Whitley Streiber's books, and his imagination and writing ability far outnumbers at least 80% of other Sci-Fi and auto-biographical books. It was similar to Cormac McCarthy's "The Road", but was more intricate and not as sad as that was. I was invested in most of the main characters, and did not want to put the book down! I had to read far past my usual bedtime for 2 or 3 nights. I would recommend it highly to anyone who wants to be: a) terrified; b) caught up in a very strange situation; and c)unable to figure out the ending ! I like surprises and Whitley never fails to give them. Hope someone else will enjoy it as much as I have ! (I only wish someone would make it into a movie that would do it JUSTICE. But Hollywood hardly ever gets those pics right.)

So what will happen in 2012?

I'm intrigued with what the Mayan calendar predicts for the year 2012. When I found this book, I had not previously read Whitley Strieber before. I was a little surprised at the amount of alien content but I enjoyed some of the ideas he focused on, based on the different predictions for 2012. If you're not a fan of aliens being key players in futuristic books, this isn't the book for you. But if you can open your mind and look at some of the theories, you'll really enjoy the story.

Streiber makes it seem plausible.

After all the hype regarding the end of world times w/2012 and planet X, I found Whitley Streiber's rendition of why and what happens interesting and thought provoking. He's blended the bad guys from Heaven/Hell and caused one to speculate about multi-dimensions ... I enjoyed it. Found it a good and compelling read ...

If you are a fan of Whitley Strieber you will thoroughly enjoy 2012: The War for Souls. Whitley artfully intertwines his skills in both scifi and horror in such a way that creates an experience that will have you wondering if this could really happen. You are quickly placed into the earth of two moons and it doesn't take long to discover that there is a lot more different than that. An offset of our one moon earth, this alternate universe quickly discovers that the new 'lens' that have appeared around the globe are not good. As the reasons and effects of the lens start to unfold, it become apparent that this reality is actually being created by an author writing a book in our (one moon) universe. The interwinings of the Authors book creating the alternate universe realities and the horror waiting just on the other side of the new strange 'lens' and the approaching date in 2012 leaves you in a state that will not let you put this book down. At some time in your reading of 2012 you come to realize that this book contains enough truth and science fact to add that element of realism that truly places Whitley in a writing dimension of his own. You will want to carefully check the house before you go to bed to make sure the doors and windows are locked. But, that won't do any good...
