Since its introduction in 1974, the
Porsche
911
Turbo
Carrera has remained one of the ultimate dream
cars
. This colour photo
history
examines all of Porsches turbocharged road vehicles, along with the
race
cars from which they developed, including the 917, the famous Martini-liveried 912, the 956 and subsequent 962 that combined for six victories at Le Mans.
Excellent book for Turbo lovers!
This book is a design
history
of the current 996 Twin-
Turbo
. It t
race
s the evolution of the design from the 934 & 935 race
cars
, through the 930, 959, 964, and 993 turbos. The majority of the book deals with the design of the entire 996 Turbo and includes some of the original drawings of the car. Interviews with several of the designers of various systems of the 996 Turbo are included. Stunning photography complements the thorough text. An absolute must for anyone who has or loves the
Porsche
Turbos. Highly recommended.

Excellent Book
This is a must have book if you own a
Porsche
or dream of owning one. The quality of the photos are excellent and the text is adequate (not too much noise). The book t
race
s the
history
of the first
turbo
to the current 996 version. There are some very interesting biograhies of some of the engineers who were/are directly responsible for the development of the machine. A very good book to read over and over again because there are just enough words there to be informative and not too much to put you to sleep.
Full History Not So Full
I read this book looking to get a little insight into the
Porsche
Turbo
that I own. My car is referred to as a Porsche 944 Turbo and as a Porsche 951. Nowhere on my car does it say 944 and it is my understanding it does not share much in common with the standard 944. . I figured a book with the title "Porsche Turbo: The
Full
History
of the
Race
and
Production
Cars
" might actually have information on my car. But nowhere in the book does it mention it at all. This car is a very successful race car in many categories yet no mention. Very disappointing! I have to wonder what else was left out.
