Art + Arithmetic + Environmental Awareness=Graeme Base?s latest masterpiece

From the creator of the international best-sellers Animalia, The Water Hole, and Jungle Drums

Once again, beloved author Graeme Base introduces readers to a new world. And again, he interweaves the story with hidden images and mathematical problems (and solutions!), creating a book that can be read over and over, and at different levels for different ages.

When Uno arrives in the forest one beautiful day, there are many fascinating and extraordinary animals there to greet him?and one entirely unexceptional Snortlepig. Uno loves the forest so much, he decides to live there. But, in time, a little village grows up around his house. Then a town, then a city . . . and soon Uno realizes that the animals and plants have begun to disappear.

Uno?s Garden is a moving and timely tale about how we all unknowingly affect the environment around us, just by being there?and how we can always learn from our mistakes and find ways of doing things better. It's an illuminating blend of storybook, puzzle book, and math book.

Great children's book to teach living in harmony with the planet

While all of Graeme Base's book are great, this one is my favorite. It teaches children about different species on the planet and how humans can live in harmony with them (and what happens if we don't). The graphical representations at the top of the pages are great, too!

LOVE GRAEME BASE!!!

I was fortunate to meet Graeme Base at a book release/signing for Uno's Garden in Tampa. I have loved and owned his books for years, my first being "Sign of the Seahorse". I also have "Animalia", "Jabberwocky", and "The Discovery of Dragons".

All of his books have the most amazing artwork with wonderful stories with worthwhile morals. A wonderful addition to any library - child or adult.

Beautifully illustrated

Unos' Garden is a beautifully illustrated work of art, teaching children and adults alike, respect for the natural world. The creative names for the different animals, buildings and plants gives children hours of enjoyment with never the same read twice. It's one of the best children's books I have read to date.

Great book for so many reasons

This book is one that will grow with a child. The illustrations are creative and bright. You can search the pages for the images from the text. It also has 3 types of math it does. Plus it is just a good story about caring for the environment.

My 20-month-old loves this book!

My son is 20 months, and we read this book to him for the first time a couple of months ago. He reads it over and over (at least once a day) and requests it every night before bed. He spends so much time examining the pictures and loves to find the snortlepig on (almost) every page. He also loves to help Mommy or Daddy count the animals and search for Uno. The concept is pretty adult, but he loves the beautiful artwork and the mystery in each page. He also especially likes the double fold-out page at the end - he spends a long time examining that page. I would highly recommend this book, even for children below the recommended 4-8 age range.
