Day!
Following the success of Pirate Pete and Pirate Pete?s Giant Adventure comes a new book by the celebrated brother-and-sister team of Doug and Kim Kennedy. In this new adventure, Pete has a wonderful new ship, but no crew. But not just any crew will do. As Pete explains:
?Ye gots to be stubborn and mighty cranky,
Ye gots to be dirty and awfully stanky!
Ye gots to load a cannon and know how to fire it,
But most of all, ye gots to talk
like a pirate!?
One by one Pete interviews his potential crew, and one by one they get the boot! Whoever will he find to help him sail the high seas? A hilarious and fun-to-read-aloud book that will have every child talking like a pirate.

So funny!
Both my husband and I *love* reading this book to our four year old. So funny and cute, it will have you laughing out loud for sure! On my way to get the rest in the series . . .
Great Fun!
My daughter (3 1/2) thinks
Pirate

is hilarious! She always wants to know why he

s so funny. In a backwards kind of way, I think this book actually does teach kids how important it is to speak properly. Although speaking pirate has its moments too.
If your kids love pirates...
Pirate
Pete
is off on another adventure. This time he has an amazing ship, but no crew to sail it. He's off to Rascal Island to find himself some buccaneers. He needs many things in a crew. They need to be able to load the cannon and be able to fire it, but most of all, they need to

In this lively adventure, Pirate Pete finds all kids of scallywags to help him sail his ship, with all kinds of good piratey qualities, but they all speak like British headmasters. Will he ever find the prefect first mate? You might be surprised.
This is a children's book that kids and parents equally will like. It is ripe for read-aloud voices and lots of giggles. Kids love the vivid illustrations and repetition. Read-aloud parents will love the well-cadenced rhyme without having to keep it up throughout the book. Parents will find great humor in the different types of rascals, too. I particularly enjoyed the irritable and cranky little girl.
This isn't the book to read to children who need to learn better grammar, but it certainly is one to read for fun.
Armchair Interviews says: Fun pirate story to read to kids.
