Excellent Arrangements

These arrangements are easy to play--but best of all they leave the hymn tune in tact. These arrangements could be used to accompany congregational singing. The chords and accompaniment style lighten up the relentless chorale style that comes from the hymnal version and would be a great choice to incorporate into a blended traditional/contemporary service.

Good But Monatnous (sp)

This IS an excellent book. It REALLY is. I agree with the first person who posted.... HOWEVER .... It seems as though John E. Coates only knows one kind of Rhythm style, and that's the dotted eight sixteenth note tied to eighth note yada yada yada. It's a VERY predictable rhythm pattern, which DOES make it simple HOWEVER .... I think 80% of the music ALL have that same rhytmic feel. So, as you start from the beginning of the book, the first couple are COOL, but then, you start feeling, "Okay, been there, done that, want something new ...." and it becomes boring. I would have tough time playing most of these in a single sitting since they ALL have the same rhythmic pattern.

Change it up a bit. Don't be so predictive.

Just my thoughts ... I DO like it though, don't get me wrong.
