The best book I have ever read!!

I wish I could give this book more stars. I read the entire thing in 2 days. When I was done I went on-line and bought every book ever written by Karen Robards! The characters were fantastic, the plot kept you guessing. This is a PERFECT romantic suspense novel!!

This is pretty freaky, creepy stuff. The `bait' of the title is exactly that: bait, to lure a serial killer out into the open. Who's the unwilling, defiant bait? Maddie Fitzgerald, advertising agency owner, with a chequered, hidden past. When the crazy killer whacks another Madelyn Fitzgerald in the hotel where she's staying, then comes after Maddie when he realizes his mistake, it unlocks her Pandora's box of deadly secrets and horrifying nightmares. She knows too much, she's seen too much, she's done too much, and her past really has come back to haunt her with deadly intent. Dogging the killer's heels are FBI agents Sam McCabe and partners. They really don't appreciate it when Maggie gives them the cold shoulder, no information, and then gives them the slip. All fired up, they set up camp with Maddie, ignore her intense protests, and try to flush the killer out. Everyone goes a little stir-crazy in the meantime, and the incendiary attraction between Sam and a disbelieving Maddie blazes up - as things do when facing life and death. Loved it...couldn't put it down!!!

This is one of those books impossible to stop reading. I inhaled it! It's the first Robards book I've read so I'll definitely try another one...hoping it's just as good. The pace of the book is just right to keep you reading. The characters are likeable and believable and the romance is both sweet and hot. Read it....

4 1/2 stars -- loveeed it!!

Ok first of all, Sam McCabe is by FAR my favorite hero from Karen Robards (in her contemporaries). I would have given this five stars but I just prefer historical to contemporary. However....this is the BEST of her contemporaries! Loved it! I love the plot line where the hero and heroine are forced to be around each other and therefore cannot ignore their growing attachment. Maddie is a smart, beautiful business owner with a past.. that includes a hatred for FBI agents. Sam is an FBI agent determined to protect her - even if it means using her as bait to catch a killer. The plot works great along with a steamy steamy romance. The plot sucks you in as well as the romance between the two. Plus, the addition of other characters and Zelda the bratty, adorable little dog - makes it all a winner. And did I mention Sam is the perfect alpha male FBI agent?? Hot!!
