Man
Standing
has the essential elements of a terrific DavidBaldacci novel: a tough but tender-hearted hero, dirty dealings in the nation'sbureaucracy, and a roller-coaster plot. Web London, a member of the FBI'sHostage Rescue Team, froze up on a drug raid and thus became the sole survivorof a remote-controlled ambush that killed six of his compatriots. Now the onlywitness has disappeared and the inside man on the botched raid has goneunderground. As a pretty psychiatrist puzzles over the corners of Web's brain that kept himalive, Web himself stays on the move. He's certain that the ambush is connectedto the prison escape of a neofascist leader, Ernest B. Free, whom he helpedarrest five years earlier, and a series of new murders leads him to a Virginiahorse farm and the driving force behind all the carnage. It may seem as thoughBaldacci gives away the mastermind too soon, but both the bad guys and the goodguys are complex enough that there's plenty of punch all the way to the lastpage. --Barrie Trinkle

Last Man Standing stands the test
Well done, Mr. Baldacci, I certainly enjoyed this novel.
While I agree with other reviews here that
Last
Man
Standing
is quite long and chock-full of characters, it's an entertaining novel overall. In spite of the number of characters, they are easy to track, thanks to the extent to which they are developed.
The protagonist, HRT Web London, is complicated, troubled, but steadfast, and his form never deviates... all the way to the last page.
For those of you who found there to be too many characters or thought that this book was "difficult to follow," I advise you to stay away from Robert Ludlum.
Looking forward to further Baldaccis!

First Baldacci Novel
This is the first time I have read this kind of work. I got this book from a friend and I couldnt put it down. It rates right up there with Lee Child and great without the gory sex details. I will read this book again. I gave a copy to my adult son who is working his way thru school to become a police officer.
A lot of death
It seems that every chapter contains a death. As soon as a character becomes pivotal to the plot they get killed off in hopes that suspense is created. Come on, you have to be able to create suspense a little more emotionally and creative. It was a very fast paced book and I did want to find out who was behind everything. But I quickly got tired of being teased.

Last Man Standing
Fast paced, adventure. My first time reading something written by Mr.Baldacci. I will read more.
Very good read, but not his best...
I am a huge David Baldacci fan- he knows how to write suspensful thrillers like no one else. He does an enormous amount of research, keeps you on the edge-of-your-seat and creates multi-dimensional characters and layered plots that twist and turn at all the right moments.
While
Last
Man
Standing
isn't my favorite Baldacci novel, it is certainly a very good book and I recommend it to Baldacci fans, as well as fans of this genre in general.
When Web London, the consummate hero and part of the FBI's elite Hostage Rescue Team, completely freezes on a mission that takes out his entire team, he tries to find the group or person who set him up, in addition to the reason why he frooze. Meanwhile, the D.C. druglord known as Big F. wants to find out what happened to his "brother" Kevin who was caught up in the mission that wiped out Web's team...but is he being set up too? Toss in the radical Free Society and their fanatic beliefs, and the motive of revenge on behalf of each of the characters, and you have one complicated, twisted, yet intriguing plot. From the ghetto of D.C. to horse-country farm life, "Last Man Standing" truly delivers!
